Default engine bay cleaning

sorry if this doesnt work!

after getting my car painted my engine bay was dirty as hell!

this is what came back to be from the shop

and this is what happened after the cleaning...

we used gunk engine cleaner and some armor all substance( same technic used on this board a while ago) after it was back from the shop my buddy wanted to clean it since his was so shinny... and we did...

we sprayed the gunk on, hosed it down after like 10 min and sprayed it with armor all, then turn on the car.

TIP: be sure to cover up electrical parts(pretty sure everyone knows) and cover up the spark plug wells.

BUT we started it up after hosing it down my motor started chocking...turns out my spark plug wells were flooded with water, we cleaned out and let it dry out...

it still chocked for a while but went away after two days of driving...

thanks to my buddy eg(6)sr on this board and nearling killing my enigne by flodding it with water...it was well worth it

i know i have to declutter my engine bay.....but when i get the ITR manifold it'll look better(on the new motor) and i'll hide all the harness and stuff... i swapped out my gsr harness with my cousins single cam harness(what you see in the motor) and i did a quick job because i had to go to work...

as far as stuttering water went into my spark plugs, cylinder no.1 was flooded because of the angle the car was sitting at... what we did was take rags with a screw driver and soaked it all up... then we used a air hose to spray the reamining out...

the thread on cylinder no 1 is stripped i beleive so water acually went in...

i didnt get any check codes.... but after driving to santa cruz this past weekend i have a CEL with the code 23... my motor is now knocking or something is wrong with it...

i dont know.. too lazy to fix it...hhahaha

BTW the color is supposed to be the sundace gold fromt he cl type s but it didnt turned out the way its supposed to be... at night it looks dead on alike... but not durring sun light...

Looks great. I am going to do mine when I get it back from the shop. Just got my Civic last week, and still haven't had time to clean it up nice. I just passed my safety on it, so it's Good time from here.

As I've said before, this should be some incentive to put in your fully built motor thats been sitting in your room forever.

I got some more pictures of the before and after:

And a teaser front pic, We'll get more of them when he gets some rubber for his rims that he just got, right now, the car looks weird with SI's on.

Big imporvment! I see you have your timing belt cover off. Did you cover it up? I wouldn't think it would be good to get gunk or armor all on it.

Yeah, I got a bunch of rags, and covered the alternator and starter, including those timing belts covers. After I washed everything down, took off the rags, The tops of them were dripping wet, but the bottom of them were still dry.

okay, so i take it that you didnt take a hose to this - you just sprayed the gunk right on and wiped off. was the armor all just for shine?

this way it'll force me to put in my new motor and stop spend all my money on other things..... hahahahah
