Simgle green, Gunk, elbow grease, nice scrub brush, garden hose, and some patience if u wanna get every part of the engine.

Simple Green works well by itself or you can mix it with water in a spray bottle 50:50.

Auto parts stores sell engine cleaners/degreasers which are a little harsher than Simple Green, but can break up some of the stuff SG can't.

Just spray it on, wait a few minutes and spray it off with a garden hose.

To really get it clean, you'll need some elbo grease.

the best method ive used is..

on a cold engine, go buy Foamy Engine Brite from your local parts store.. saturate the whole engine bay.. (cover everything that needs to be covered of course) let it soak for 15-20 mins.. then rinse with normal running water from the hose.. then let the engine idle til its nice n dry.. it will be spotlessly clean and brand new looking.

Gunk came out with something new, its called "Citrus Engine cleaner" and it is by far the best stuff i have ever used, all of gunk's stuff never really worked and CRC makes a "natural degreaser" that uses citrus power and works like no tomorrow but is hard to find, i picked up some of the gunk stuff yesterday and its just as good as CRC, u have to use it to believe it.

GUMOUT STEAMCLEAN is the absolute best.
I have tried all of the cleaners you can get at an auto parts store...this is the best you can use without having to scrub with a brush.
