Default Sizing bearings without measuring? (B20)

I have seen people calculating proper bearing colors for different journal/block sizings. After reading the helms, I don't see a direct way to calculate this.

I chose a crank that worked well with the block, so the original bearings have been discarded. The crank I have is 23332 and the block is CDDDC i.e.

C2 D3 D3 D3 C2

The crank's rod markings are BABB. I am using eagle rods.

I need to order my bearings from honda tomorrow and would like to know if somebody could help me calculate bearings I need for the mains and for the rods so I can begin somewhere.

Thanks guys

damn........if the journals were micro-polished then there is no other way other than actually measuring them to get the proper spec you need.

i guess you can start with the C2 D3 D3 D3 C2 bearings and go from there......or better yet you can start off by going one thicker on all the bearings where the journals have been polished and go from there.........which ever way you decide to go you will defiantly have to do some serious measuring and plastiguaging.

here is a bearing chart i copied from the endyn BBS a long time ago.......i don't know how accurate this is but i'll post it anyway:
(only the connecting rod clearances though)

Conrod Bearing Set:
1.510-1.507mm 0.0594"-0.0593" -BLUE
1.507-1.504mm 0.0593"-0.0592" -BLACK
1.504-1.501mm 0.0592"-0.0591" -BROWN
1.501-1.498mm 0.0591"-0.0590" -GREEN
1.498-1.495mm 0.0590"-0.0589" -YELLOW
1.495-1.492mm 0.0589"-0.0587" -PINK
1.492-1.489mm 0.0587"-0.0586" -RED

Rod Bearing Part Numbers:
13217-PR4-A02 RED
13216-PR4-A02 PINK
13215-PR4-A02 YELLOW
13214-PR4-A02 GREEN
13213-PR4-A02 BROWN
13212-PR4-A02 BLACK
13211-PR4-A02 BLUE

ok I found it. thanks louie.

Tomorrow morning I am going to try to order some bearings. I'd like to know if its safe to assume the following. After having the crank micropolished, I am assuming I need one size bigger. Problem is, I am at the end of the scale for my middle 3 mains:

mains are C2,D3,D3,D3,C2
rods are B3,A3,B3,B3

for mains:
C2-green, next up is brown
D3-black, next up is blue

for rods:
B3-green, next up is brown
A3-yellow, next up is green

I am told the micropolishing couldn't have taken off more than 0.0002".

If this is the case, simply one size bigger bearing *should* theoretically work. Is this a chance of wasting a lot of money on some bearings which could end up being useless? Or should I save the time and money and just get a "one size fits all" type bearing (I hear nothing but good things about ACL bearings). Apparantly there are oversized bearings available from ACL for cranks that are polished.

Good post for future builders. Maybe someone else will chime in with some info too... I'd like to read.

i say go for the one size up colour bearings and go from there.

i dont belive or trust those one size fits all bearings......even though there have been alot of good things said about ACL bearings i would much rather have honda bearings.......

It's fine just to go up one size, I've got a B20 vtec with over 600hp and that's all I did and I must say that so far everything is good (2000 miles). You can even go up 2 sizes if you want but the motor will be tighter, ideally you want the bottom end to rotate with ease. Also, as far as having the crank micropolished, that's usually why you go up one size. A tip I would like to give though is to make sure you read all the numbers and letters on the block clearly, you don't want any mistakes. As far as the rods are concerned you'll need to plastigauge the clearanse.

I wouldn;t go 1 size up, a lil extra clearance is better ... just don;t go over the service limits. So stick with stock colors matching.

iow, get the colors you listed ...

I agree with this. I'd rather have it a little loose than a little tight. And yes, micropolishing will not take that much material off. Maybe .0001" If they polished the hell out of it.

I've heard that if you use eagle rods on a micropolished ITR crank, that you'll be w/in spec if you use the greens that way you dont have to measure.
