spun rod bearing, got $1,500-$1,700 to spend. what would you do?
ok i recently spun a rod bearing (at least thats what i think so far)
ive thought of buying a b20 shortblock or b16 shortblock (about $900) or fixing my b18c1.
so far i know IF i do fix my b18c1 it will need new bearings ($230?) new oil pump ($?) water pump,belts,etc.... may even need a new crank, hopefully i wont though.
w/ this tight budget what would you guys suggest? throw some ideas into my head, id really like to keep my block but if its not financly wise, i'll go w/ a b20 or b16.

If you spun a main bearing you more that likely destroyed the block. Sometimes a line bore will fix it, sometimes not.
Go for a b20.

but spun rod bearing will start knocking
and a spun main will make your car fell like your hand brake is on like something is holding u back and when it get bad it will knock to
i would just find u a b18b crank and just buy a set of eagle rods for a b18b and je gsr pistons
u can find a used b18b or b18a crank good price
i would do that only if u spun a rod bearing
DONT TURN A HONDA CRANK THEY WAS COATED WITH HARDEN FROM HONDA
if u turn it it will take the harden off the journal

sounds like a knocking sound, i think (not 100% sure yet) it was due to my oil pump failing, beacuse the oil light started to flicker a day before it happened, meaning i had low oil pressure, thus toasting the bearings.
