How to break in new motor for Turbo?
I'm just curious as to how everybody goes about breaking in a new fully built Turbo motor? If your running bigger injectors, fuel pump and stand alone. Is it best to run it for like 1,000 miles without turbo, stock ecu, injectors and fuel pump?
Do a search on "engine break in" you'll get an entire list, just make sure its the ones for street cars and not race cars. Race car engines don't last as long.
you dont necessarily have to run it without the turbo setup. but, you probably shouldnt boost for at least 500-700 miles.
the usual process:
0-150 miles stay around 3000
150-300 miles stay around 3500-4k
300-500 miles stay under 5500k
do a few decent 2-7k pulls in there and as long as your rings have seated you should be ok...
everybody has their own break-in procedure though, use what works best for you

run the motor with the turbo, just keep the boost at like 6 psi.............just think about it. rings are seated how? (with compression), if you lower the stock compression of you motor it is going to be that much longer for the rings to seat properly, plus if compression seats rings what creates more compression than 6psi. just keep it under 4krpms. I broke mine in w/ 6psi and just went from 35-50mph about 2/3 throttle and then let it comression brake back down and did it like 20-30 times. and my cars hasnt smoked since. Got about 4k on my new motor

ok so here's the question
i know that if u break-in ur new engine too easy ( pussyfooting ) the rings will NOT seal properly, so what will happen if u break-in ur engine violently ?
earl , viren , vaportrail or anyone can give an answer to this ?

i kept my street car at no boost for 100 miles and then under 5lbs for 200 more miles and then up to 10lbs for another 200 miles. at 500 changed the oil and went to the dyno for 20psi and the car ran flawless for 6 months at 20-26 psi. i would have broken it in w/o any boost because i thought i should do it that way but my foot was always heavy on open road.
well, i didnt mean break the car in violently, its just a little boost helps seat your rings fast and good, but you still want to be easy on it with the boost......i didnt drive my car at WOT until about 1.5k miles

so guys as for having hondata with 650 rc injectors should i just have a good baseline program to go with during breakin period? So i should be able to boost say 15psi or higher after about 1,000 miles but only if i'm tuning on dyno? When Steve Sakai sold me my Hondata he said not to drag race on my baseline or run it at the track until i get some miles on motor and get to a dyno.
