You can go to my website at http://www.geocities.com/bretq/DIY_O...tructions.html for information on assembling and installing an oil catch can. I used the Moroso because it contains baffling, which helps to seperate the oil droplets from the blow-by gases. Here is a diagram which shows how the baffling works.

I learned a lot from T.O.O.

I'm extremely pleased with my DIY oil catch can. I catch ~1/8 - 1/4 cup of oil every 3,000 miles and this is on a NA stock motor.

hey i have an ls vtec and it has the stock catch tank on the back of the block
i jus purchaced a cusco catch tank and i thought that you put it between the tube that comes from the crank case to the intak pipe am i wrong
from your pic i think you have to disconect the hose on top of the catch tank (stock ) and run the one that comes out of the stock tank to one end of the cosco one and then connect the return line to the tube that was connected to the top of the stock tank
sorry i am confused don't mean to bother you
jason

Hopefully this diagram from the Helms manual will clear things up.

Yes, the stock pcv valve is removed and replaced with the one on top of the catch can. Use an elbow or some other connection that fits into the stock pcv valve gromet and attach a line from there to the can.

Tip: use trans-cooler line instead of the clear Home Depot tubing or fuel line. The trans-cooler line is reinforced and will hold up better over time.

I have a question for you though...if your block has a factory catch can already, why add another?

So 2 ounces of oil/gunk caught in the can after 3k miles is good for NA stock?... I was expecting more when I emptied mine for the first time last week, but only got 2 oz. I consume 1.5qts every 3k miles...and now know that its not all going through the pcv system.

The diagram is correct...read my response again. The concept is simple. You are putting a catch can inbetween the pcv system and simply relocating the pcv valve from its factory location to the top of the can. Make sense?

You can buy trans-cooler line at Autozone or Pepboys.

thats what im reading so far.. but will the vaccum be strong enough by the time it reaches the catch can. so far this is what i see...

from the black canister on the back of the block..to the "relocated pvc" on the catch can..then back into the intake.
