reset my vafc - vtec kicks in at 5,800 rpm? WTF?
Since I haven't dyno tuned it yet, I thought I would start off on a clean slate. So, after I initialized it, set all of the sensor types, cyl. #, throttle, and all that stuff you do at the beginning, I thought I'd check the actual rpm of the vtec engagement point since the tach is always a little off, and it said it engages at 5800 rpm, and disengages at 5400 rpm. Is this normal? I set it to 5200 but it still feels a bit delayed. Any ideas?
The VAFC doesn't know what car it is in, you have to set the LtoH and HtoL to the car's specific points. How could the box tell the difference between an ITR, GSR, lude, or anything else that you can use it on?
I thought it would be in the ecu. The manual said all parameters would be automatically reset to stock. After reading that I just thought it was a bit odd that it was reset to 5800.

When they say "reset to stock" in the Apexi manual, they are refering to the stock or default Apexi V-AFC settings. The factory default VTEC crossover setting is 5800rpm on the V-AFC.

stock is 4900-5000
you want 4700
you want 4700
Stock is 5200 on a fifth gen. On my 4th gen on the dyno it came in at 5000
I had mine dyno tuned and its set to come in at 4700, making heaps more power there than stock, im guessing its goin to be best having it to come in at 4700 on most Stockish ludes.... It wont vary by that much...

aklucsarits- thanks for pointing that out, now it makes sense
satan_srv- when I set it at 5200, it still felt a bit delayed from when I drove it w/o the vafc. so I lowered to 5100, and it feels closer to normal, that shouldn't be too low should it?
