What is Blowby?..
i belive its when both the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time allowing air to flow through the cylinder without being mixed/combusted.
I'll take a different stab and say it has something to do with oil, like a ring going and oil blowing by the combustion chamber and being burnt.... of course I could be way off I'll leave the real explanation to the experts
shadowdawn,
is the fmu a 12:1?
also, is a fmu with an AFC enough to fuel the turbo system?
thanks

So you will see my fmu for sale very soon
Hi Hotang,
Blow by is typically seen in a worn engine. It is the combustion chamber gasses blowing by the rings and entering the crankcase. It usually is precipitated under stock conditions by many miles (150,000+) or not enough oil changes.
Blow by adds heat to the crankcase, accelerating oil oxidation, acid formation and aging. Blowby is seen in the PCV system with a lot of oil ingested into the intake breather.
It is also brought on by detonation in boosed engines. Under these conditions the ring lands start to collapse and other nasties happen.
If an engine is susceptible to detonation blow by aggrevates the situation as ingested oil like to aid detonation. Nice little run away situation.........
It can also be seen on a very new engine untill the rings seat.
Hope this helps some.

dude, 12-1 and you do need an FMU!!!

You don't need a FMU with 440cc's and a AFC setup, If you use a 12:1 fmu AND the afc hack you are a moron. FMu simply isen't needed up to 10psi with the afc hack setup.

Blow by is when exhaust gases go pass the piston rings. Piston rings aren't 100% sealed so gasses can go by them and get into the crank case. If you have blown ring lands you'll get a lot of blow by.

listen to him, he summed it all up so i dont have to
i still don't understand the terminology.
what is an AFC hack? I have an AFC and it is installed. What makes this setup a hack and others just have an AFC?
thanks
Joe
