What is the "Solenoid duty cycle" on an AVC-R?
I was tinkering with my AVC-R tonight, and decided to up the boost a bit. But I don't know what to do with the "duty cycle". It was at 40%. So i raised it to 48% without knowing what it does. I'm assuming it allows the car to reach full boost quicker. Can someone please explain what the solenoid duty cycle is? Thanks in advance.

I think electronic boost controllers use a solenoid valve to control the pressure that is applied to the top port of the wastgate. A higher duty cycle will keep the wastgate closed longer. 100% duty cycle would mean the pressure on both sides of the wastgate diaphram is the same and so the spring preload would keep it permanently shut.

The solenoid opens and closes very quickly to allow pressure on the top side of the wastegate diaphram... 100% duty means the pressure is equal on both sides.
0% means your max boost will be determined by the strength of the wastegate spring alone.
You set the duty close to what you would need to achieve target boost, and then the AVC-R "learns" actual duty across the board to hit the target.....

I did this, but never worked for me, I guess I have a dumb AVCR.
I adjusted it to 51% duty cycle, the unit switched into elf learn mode and does only adjusting it to 52% on some rpm settings. I had unstable boost all the time. Target boost was 1.2 Bar. Boost was always between 0.9 and 1.2 Bar.

just adjust duty cycle until it holds the specified boost setting steady and not going any higher. If your cycle is set too high you will keep building boost. Just experimnet
