i recently took the needles off the gauges and had my brother dip them in amber stuff at his work...

after putting them back on and starting my car the RPM spikes to 4 and my speedometer flies up to 40

hoooow do i fix this?

 

what was the amber "stuff"?

i think the speedo needles respond to a copper solenoid in the cluster and could have set them off with the "amber stuff"

you do realize that the needles are rotationally calibrated correct? (ie placed on the shaft of the rotational assembly at a specific clock position)
if you pulled the needles and didn't mark the position they sag to (without the pin in place) then you wil either have to calibrate them or have someone do it for you.

I've gone through how to set the needles before. I'll try to search through my threads and find where I typed it up.

same concept with the fuel and temp.
fuel - fill up the tank, push needle on just above the F
temp - drive around for a while till car is fully warmed up, let idle till fan kicks on and off, push needle on at center.

to be accurate again it takes some serious equipment. (a dyno can be used, but best is a function generator and o-scope)

You can use GPS... for speed..

 

you could use a GPS for speed.
But with my steel wheels the GPS is off by a few mph, And when i have my SI wheels on its matched perfect with my speedo
