My 89 Colt Turbo: The Rebuild... (tilton twin disk, 350+whp)
creating threads like this inspires me to finish these (stupid) projects since they end up becoming way more work as things get underway. my goals here are pretty simple. i'm going to keep this car street legal...so i can occasionally enjoy it on the weekends and to/from local autox's. i am also planning on taking the car to moroso and sebring to participate in weekend time attacks to see how competitive this car can be against higher priced factory built race cars. i have 16 x 7 desmond regamasters for the car, will be buying R rated hoosiers, along with the other mods you'll see throughout this thread.
the colt was my daily driver for over 4 years and provided 20k 100% reliable miles. during that time i just did routine oil changes and replaced the clutch master cylinder. otherwise, it is the same car i put together in 2002.
since then, i've learned a few things and considered selling the car...only to realize no other vehicle to this day that i've driven has been more fun.
since my awd is finished (picture below) the plan is to spend less than 10k (what i spent on the awd) and bring the car back to where i'd like it to be.

the car is going to get a 4 pt cage, racing seats, harnesses, a little more weight reduction, tilton twin disk, rebuilt tranny (which already has a kaaz)...and some routine maintenance like rebuilding an axle and replacing other items that are worn.
here are a few pics.
the oem axles are awesome on these cars...a friend of mine made 703whp with his colt and did so on discount auto replacement axles. these are the original colt turbo axles...and i'll just have them rebuilt to ensure they do not fail.

regamasters have been powder coated flat black...so they look like rota's or spoon wheels...
i'll put them on a scale to prove they are the real deal though.
here is a pic of the engine bay...i cleaned it up a little...plus i'll tuck some wires before its finished.

No need for all that, you can look at a set of 16" regas/spoons and tell if they are real or not
Sweet build btw

does a stock colt come with the 4g63?</TD></TR></TABLE>
the car comes stock with a 1.6L variant of the 4g63...kinda like a b16a vs a b18c...however the 2.0 4g63 is much stronger from the factory.
(rods/pistons...etc are tougher)

brake booster works with a rod that runs the length of the firewall...
and i considered garage floor coatings...but didn't have the time to install it between the closing and moving in.
