O.k. well i broke down and i'm gonna buy a B20z that a friend is holding for me till i get back to the state from deployment. The first thing h said to me was sleeve it. I kinda looked at him like he was crazy. I've read up a bit and was wonder what is the controversy of getting the block sleeved or not sleeving it. I have heard both these issue go back and forth. Is this just preferance on the driver. I heard that there really is no need to sleeve it as long as it's built right and your not ******* it out 24/7 redlining it. i am going to b using a gsr head and this will be totally an N/A app. thx
i have a b20 sleeved with 13:2 comp and big cams with a gsr head. Like most people say it cant hurt if you have the money do it. I consider it a good investment if your going to put a lot of money into it. But there are some people that say different. Talk to bearsek he has a built b20 vtec pushing 260whp and 14:1+ comp with stock sleeves but its only a track car

This will be my daily driver so i really don't need any problems out of it. Plus who are some companies that do sleeves. I have ead that some places won't do it or guurentee it anymore cuz of the weak stock sleeves on the b20. I am looking to get some good power around 230 but nothing more than that as for now. Anyone had any problems wih there sleeves sinking at all??
i had the same dellemma and i decided to sell the b20 and have my gsr block sleeved to 84mm and i'll be running a 89mm b20/ls crank. this way it is much stronger and i can easily run my factory block gaurd and don't have to spend money on oil line and fittings for the vtec. if you already have a gsr block it wouldn't cost much more to have it sleeved, for example i sold my b20 for 600, i will be saving money not having to buy vtec converstion kit which is 100-225 and the sleeving process costs less than 900 which includes shipping. anyway hope this helps, just my opinion.

So what's tha deal on guys running without sleeves. Are they just lucky and had a good builder and not beating up on the motor or just luck the walls havent cracked yet...... Thx for the info i just need to search for some companies that sleeve b20 blocks.

well again in my opinion if its going to be your daily, it would be wise to take this measure. one thing to take into consideration is if you will be running aftermarket pistons and rods, if so the sleeves will be the weak point. If you will be running stock pistons and stock rods (I'd recommend at least arp bolts) then rod bolt failure will probly be the weak point, and not the sleeves.
