Default Where did you get your thin H22 head gasket from?

I'm trying to get my compression up without messing with my block. I don't want to mill the head either. I can find thicker ones for boost applications, but who sells a quality thin one? Any help is greatly appreciated.

its the same thing, a mugen or spoon thin gasket is 2laysers, like an oem with the mideel removed is 2layers.

It's ok just to take out the middle layer and then just put it back together?

so who here is actually driving with 1 layer removed? Is there any way to find out how much compression you can gain from this? Is 0.5 too optimistic?

yes just bend the copper rivets this will let the HG fall apart. then remove the middle layer and install. dont worry about the rivets, they are only there to hold the gasket together while handling. the gasket will be centered when u intsall the alignment dowels in the head.

use only one of the outer layers of the stock gasket, ive been doing it for years and works great. do not use copper spray.

btw, spoon thin gasket is exactly what i mentioned above.

What is the copper spray supposed to do? There's no sealing issues with only running one outer layer? Am I risking anything by doing so? Thanks for the help.

if you really want to use copper spray just use some between the two outer layers. theres definitely no need for coper spray on the block and head mating surfaces as u are still using the outer layers of the head gasket.

What does copper spray do? Resist corrosion from the different metals touching? Or does it seal the head to the block?

if you need copper spray to make your headgasket seal better, your doing something wrong. do not use it w/ the factory or cometic gaskets.
