Default Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Control Canister Removal

Would it be alright to remove this thing?

Looking at the FSM, it only shows that it routes back the fumes to the gas tank..can i plug those return lines?

Any cel's? FSM isn't showing any sensors or wiring that runs into the canister like the OBDII ones

Just take it out and plug any new vacuum leaks. Then what I did with the fuel hard line was cut it off near the rear wheels and just let it vent out there.

No problems and it frees up the perfect spot for an oil catch can.

Haha!, 1 or 2 kids with fuel lines venting in the atmosphere doesn't mean $hit compared to all the factories, trucks, and all kinds of industrial facilities and equipment spraying TONS of pollution every day. Not to mention all the vehicles built before emmisions standards were put into place that don't have to be regulated...

just saying

Back from the dead, but I have a quick question.

Hawke, when you removed the canister, did you take out the EVAP purge control solenoid as well (next to the MAP sensor on the firewall)? Did it throw a code?

I took it out and no, it did not throw a code on my OBD1 car.

one last bump from the dead. can you simply connect the vent line directly to the line on top of the throttle body that originaly went to the canister. I removed my canister the other day but was not wanting to cut or remove any of the vent line just in case I ever need to put all of it back on.

Sorry to re-bump the dead thread from the dead... did you ever get an answer for this? What did you end up doing? I am trying to figure out what to do with mine in the same situation as you basically.

If u connect the fuel tank venting tube directly to ur TB or IM ur engine is going to start boggin during a hot day cos the vaporized fume are feed directly to the intake.....but if u just leave the venting tube hanging there u'll have a very strong smell of fume after a hot run and could lose 10%~20% of FC too.

i did the evap delete before, regretted, spend a WEEK to put everything back again cos i did the DELETING JOB SO CLEAN AND COMPLETE! @.@ if u wanna keep u lude on the street i suggest u DON DO IT! i don even think it'll help in anyway besides losing a few pounds of unnoticeable weight.

I just left my hardline open with a foot long piece of hose attached to it. I tucked the hose so that it points down so that no water can get into the tank. And yes I did try connecting the line to the throttle body and it did exactly as razorlude said. I have not had any problems with fumes under the hood either. Now , lets put this thread to rest in peace.

sorry about the old thread but my new one got bumped .
as you stated razorlude i have done just what you stated , removed the canister rerouted the lines to the throttle body mounted valve, and routed to tank/ tb. however my car is obd2 , it also had a prge valve on the canister.
i couldnt tell if the guys above were just unplugging this canisterpurgevalve and leaving it without cel. i under stand the ecu isnt looking for a value rather to acutate this valve at the right time. will i thorw a code every 2 months without it ? and how bad was your bogging in the summer time ?

Well ill put my final solution out there. Rzorlude a noticed the lag you mentioned. I eventually got a code. So i looked Through The fuel filtersection at az. And found a 1 in 2 out filter for pressurized sys. On tthe 2 outlet side the nipples are small and large. I hooked up the valve on the mani and the tank vent.and used the purge valve to capthe oneout nipple. Put a little filter on it abd tied it down. Its not permanent yet but i need to make a little bracket and ill be happy. If no lights . But it does what the canister Would have and allows the evap valves to do what they should .the fuel filter is sbout 31/2 in long #ff3420 luberfiner. Ill post if i get a cel
8/12/13 no cel yet and no bog off line
