There is a thread on this floating around that got brought back from the dead. Check through the pages maybe on 5, 6 or 7 by now. I just saw it yesterday or so.

Don't leave it open, you'll have FLAMABLE fuel vapors escaping everywhere, not to mention it's bad for the environment. Plug it up. Once fuel pressure gets too high in the tank there's a release that opens and bleeds off pressure. If you sit next to your car on a hot day you can hear it. It's like a buzzing/whining noise.

I was told not to plug that because its a vent for the gas tank. Although if you leave it open it is flamable fumes. What alot of people do is just cut the hardline at the tank and let it chill there. What im giong to do is pick up a small filter and put that on there so it has something to go in and its not as bad, kind of like what the charcoal canister does.

drop the tank, remove the valve thats connected right at the top of the tank on the side, replace it with a longer hose directed towards the rear of the car, doing this will allow the tank to breath and also keep away any particles!
