Default VSS Signal Question

So I'm trying to hook up something electronic that runs off the VSS. My friend has done so successfully on his Del Sol, but I can't get the VSS portion to work.

What I'm wondering is if this needs to have an electronic signal, where can I get that signal in my 91 CRX? I am told it gets converted to digital somewhere, but I dunno where.

I have an OBD1 ecu swap if that matters.

Thanks.

On the FACTORY ecu plugs, it's pin B16 yellow with a red stripe.

What ya hooking up?

That pin (on the obd1 side of things) isn't doing it for me. I think I might need an electronic VSS.

It's an MPG gauge, custom made by a guy in Japan for his friend's Prius (he now uses it with his Del Sol).

He had it custom made though because the Prius gauge doesn't register above 99.9 MPG but this goes up to 235 MPG or something like that.

The injector duration and everything else works, I'm just not getting a good VSS signal.

pin b10 at the ecu.

Does it have a 5volt reference voltage?

Are you running a cable speedo? Or did you convert it to electronic?

Cable, which is what makes me think that's the prollem.

I'm picking up an engine/tranny tomorrow, so I'll just use that electronic VSS I guess. I rushed the pick up just for that little VSS, I want my gauge to work!

Thanks for all the help.

The speedo is cable driven. The signal that goes to the ecu is seperate from that. (but driven by the cable too) It needs a 5 volt reference to work.
