Will HX rims fit on my 2000 EX?
I bought HX rims and know I'll need spacers/possibly extended lug bolts. Anyone know of a good shop in SFV or Santa Clarita area that would install them?

the ex have the 10.3 brakes, so you will either have to grind the bracket a little bit of get a wheel spacer of about 5mm. the HX rim is a 50 offset vs the normal honda 45, so that 5mm spacer lets the wheel clear the brakes

X2 did that with my EX

Good post
Good post
I just used a grinder. I rock my hx rims on my gsr from tire to time. Add some falken azenis rt615's and you have a potent lightweight setup. I think that is the best oem rim/tire combo.

I don't think I would call 195/60 tires on a 5.5" wide wheel on a 2700lb car "potent"
More like "pathetic."

More like "pathetic."</TD></TR></TABLE>lol. Have you ever tried this combo? I mean you probally have, I mean who would assume? They rim/tire combo actually sit on a bit of a smaller weight car( 92 4 door civic with a d15b 15g). So what's a better OEM tire/rim package. I mean **** a hx rim weighs 11#'s.

From a performance standpoint, I personally don't like OEM wheels at all. Sure, several of them look good, but Japanese manufacturers notoriously under-tire their cars and tend to use skinny wheels. I wish that all of my OEM Honda wheels were at *least* an inch wider.
Wheel weight is overrated IMHO. Yeah, I know all of the theory behind rotational intertia and whatnot, but in practice, saving a few pounds on each corner doesn't justify putting less rubber under the car. I'd take a 15lb 14x7" wheel over an 11lb 14x5.5" wheel any day. 225/50-14 R-comps fit much better
There's nothing inherently wrong with it though, especially if you're on a budget and/or are just looking to have some fun with a daily driven car. I used the 195/60 RT-215 Azenis on stock 14x5" CRX wheels back when I started doing HPDEs. They may not have had the massive grip and the sidewall feel of the ubiquitous 205/50-15 Azenis, but they weren't bad at all (then again my car only weighs 2100lbs). Tended to overheat easier though, and there was no gearing advantage. I'd kill for a 225/45-14 Azenis.
Eh, but I'm babbling. Man, I've missed discussing and reading about suspension/roll-stiffness/damping/brake/tire/wheel/alignment/handling theory since the RR-AX forum regulars left a month ago
