Default hx rims wouldnt fit on my car? wtf?!?!

i tried to put on my hx rims on my ej1 and the front wouldnt budge, they were hitting the caliper and causing the brakes to hit the rotor. the brakes are stock ex brake calipers and rotors, i thought hx's would fit? i had to buy spacers just so i can get to school tomorrow

if you have 94-95 si/ex, they have 10.1(?) inch brakes while the other civics have 9.5, you can either run spacers, or grind your caliper about 5-8mm to have more clearance

Yes, that is correct. The Ex calipers will not clear the HX rims. This has been a known issue, sorry you had to find out the hard way. The spacers trick will work. Some people shave parts of the caliper, but if you got the spacers already, then you should be good to go. If you had an hx, lx, dx and below... then it wouldn't be an issue. NinjaSpy is correct about the size info.

there's a tutorial on how to "shave off" some material on the brake calipers to make the rims fit. you're set though since you've already bought spacers.

Not all the 94-95 EX's have those (10.1's) only the ones with ABS without ABS they have the regular 9.5.

I believe that all 92-95 EX coupes had 10" rotors upfront, non ABS ones had drums in the back instead of 4 wheel disk brakes.

Your fronts are still 10.1 regardless if you don't have ABS. If you don't have abs, you may have drums in the rear. The only 92-95 EX that had abs standard is the EX (EH9) Sedan, which had 4 wheel disc brakes. The coupes had it as an option. Some dealers back then called the Ex coupes EX-A or something.

You can use wheel spacers, you don't have to chop your calipers up

Nope sorry please try again my front rotors are NOT 10.1 my car isnt stored at my garage so I cant get a pic with a ruler right now but here is the info off of a autopart website. Now if the rotors were the same size as the ones with abs would they not be the same part number hell how about close to the same weight? Here I looked up 94 Non abs EX coupe front rotors and then 94 ex coupe with ABS front rotors. different part numbers and weights are way different. This would constitute a different rotor size.

NO ABS= 11.5 shipping weight http://www.partsamerica.com/Pa...Set=A

ABS= 13lb shipping weight http://www.partsamerica.com/Pa...Set=A

Spacers are fine to use if they are on the small side... if you were to get bigger ones you would want longer wheels studs to compensate for the spacer.

I had to barrow two HX rims before. They wouldnt fit the front so I put them on the rear. It was weird looking at my Del Sol with 15s in the front and 14s in the rear.

thats what i don't get. from 93-97 (doesn't matter what year), Del Sol Si's and VTEC's (94-97) came with stock 14" rims. why wouldn't HX's fit?
