Default oil leaks suck!

well, i just got finished working on my oil line leak on my oil pan. i applied a light coat of JB weld. heard it works better than the weld compound. it seems like it would work better, considering it had better consistency and not so dry and claylike. lets see if it works out... too many oil spots wherever i park.

one opinion i wanna get from you guys, though...

i noticed that im starting to get a noticable headgasket oil leak. i want to prevent any further damage to the engine by either replacing it with an inlinepro headgasket or a blockgaurd. what do you recommend? i know its better to consider getting a new block... its quite costly.

Blockguard for a headgasket leak???

Remove the head and use some copper spray($6-7 at most auto stores)

actually forget about any special headgaskets. Just go to the dealer and pick up a new factory headgasket for the car and slap it on. You dont want to lower compression at all, plus the factory one is probably cheaper. Forget about the blockguard.

the block guard prevents the cylinder walls from moving under high pressure, so how is this going to help an oil leak? unless he doesn't have a block guard already and the cylinder walls are some how moving the head gasket around!

actually, a blockguard would be an addition to the new head gasket. just wondering if i should go with an inlinepro or some other brand instead of stock. im just wondering what blockguards are good. got some opinions before... but never really narrowed it down to the best one to get.

If your gonna get a blockguard, go with STR. Headgasket go with stock or cometic both good and cheap.

blockguard goes on top of the cylinder walls, and headasket goes between the head and block
it's two different thing

get a head gasket to solve your leakege

What about your head bolts are those stock? how much boost you running? I have had this problem before with two customers, change the gasket and used arp bolts and it never happend again.

only doin about 5-7lbs of boost on my LS motor that has 131,000+ miles on it. still has the stock bolts on em. one thing.. is that the last head stud on the left is broken, so i pretty much have to tap a new stud. shop broke it during the install and i was too anxious to drive my car that i just took it that way.

yeah, I say you found your problem. Stock head bolts are<edit> known to stretch with boost making the head gasket vunerable to blow out. Happend to me all the time.

hmmm thats interesting. i didnt know that would happen. dumb *** at the shop said i shouldnt have a problem. i tried to have them repair it a few weeks later but they kept givin me excuses. oh well... too late now. the shop closed down.

i figured the headgasket was gonna go anyway. i boost the shiznit out of it and i have 131,000+ miles on my motor. i expected it to happen sometime. ive been boostin hard for 1year and a few months now... time to start upgrading things.

thanks for the info, guys.
