Default "External" Oil Filter Applications

Who's running "external" oil filter applications and for what reason. I know some do it because they also have a oil cooling setup but is that the only reason for this?

Some people move it for a cooler set up. Some move it because the filter is in a royal pain in the *** spot on some cars and its easier to just move it somewhere thats easier to get a hand on if you're doing stuff in your garage without a lift or something.

I have one, with an oil cooler.

What oil cooler are you running. I was mildly considering running the greddy setup but it's up in the air right now.

I had no idea they even sold kits... I just pieced parts together. Get a filter landing blockoff, a filter relocater and a oil or transmission cooler grid, connect it all with the hose of your choice. I used stainless because I trust it a lot more than hose clamping rubber ones on when I'm doing the work.

I'm sure you could do more fancy or less fancy depending on what you want.

Im running an oil cooler and re-location kit on both my civic and my 240

BOTH HAVE THERMOSTATS
Don't run one with out it unless its a track only car!

Its actually quite easy to run without a thermostat..... tape the cooler grid over.
no air through it=very minimal cooling and the oil still goes over the 180 deg that the thermostat opens at.

well...I didn't cut it but the drag radials got rid of enough.

The lines go through the hole I cut for the intercooler piping.

This is the setup I run on the 240. The greddy kit w/relocation alone retails for 780$ on there site If you have ever changed the oil on a 240, you will understand how important that relocation is
That thermostat didn't come with it either Oil cooling is at least twice as important on the SR powered 240 compared to the civic.

It did however bolt right up and has that sweet aluminium air channel thing. Too bad I dont have pics of it mounted. I will get some soon.

I put mine together for real cheap.

Ebay 12 x 4 x 2 (LxHxT) for $89
RUBBER transmission line (15ft) $50
Oil filter relocate kit $50
No t-stat. I block it off when cold. I live in Fla so its hot here most of the year. I just got a oil temp gauge the other day to see whats up. Haven't installed yet.

Your search for oil cooler returned 608 results.

LOL, funny thing is, this one was started by the SAME thread poster as this one; LSEGHATCH.

Most guys run the Greddy Unit. I have used it before on a old setup, worked fine. I am sure there are more manufacturer's out there that make some.

Anyways, here is the product info on that item. Should help with future search's.

This kit allows you to relocate the factory oil filter for easy maintenance with a trick look. Billet adapters allow for easy installation of gauge sensors, such as oil pressure and oil temperature. Also included are brackets, Earl's fittings and perform-O-flex hoses (use of 1985-87 Toyota Corolla GTS Oil filter required).

Honda Civic 1992-00 Greddy Part # 12053005
Acura Integra 1994-01 Greddy Part # 12053007

You should be able to find this part for anywhere in the $130 range from about anyone who carries greddy... we do

Ricky
