Default Need help w/ swap. Pin/Shift linkage

UPDATE: I can't find an 8mm punch, is the punch supposed to go inside the pin, and then you wack. Or is the punch supposed to be flat against the rim of the pin, and then wack?

This is on your basic z6 tranny. Check out the pin, if it were on can you see straight through the other side? I don't think mine is in there but I'm not sure. I pulled the linkage as if to separate it from the tranny, but it just clicked in place. Does this mean the pin is in there?

Also, I'm having trouble removing the passenger side hub. I've wacked it a good couple of times, but that bitch is stuck, and yes I have removed all bolts.

Yeah, if it were in there you can see straight through it. If you hammered it in there, go in the car and shift through gears and if the shift linkage falls to the ground, then obviously you haven't gotten it through. It should be kind of straight forward because it wont feel like you're shifting if the pin isn't in there.=P

Why are you trying to remove ur hub?

Oh, we were trying to put in the longblock, by not pulling the tranny. DAd said it wasn't necessary, but when it came time, it was hard as hell to get the bitch in there properly. So now, I'm trying to take out the tranny.

enh? Oh, my bad I thought you were trying to put the motor back in. Well yeah, even if the pin is in there you can still see straight through. If you look at the linkage closely, where the pin goes, you can see there is an inner ring type deal- thats the pin. Get the proper punch (I believe its 8mm?) and wack it out. It can be a bitch to take it out sometimes.

YOu dont have to remove the hub to get the motor out, just take off the tie rod and remove the hub from the control arm and then pull on the hub as you wack the axle out.

OooOoh.. are you saying you removed the longblock and left the tranny in the motor??? And now you're trying to get the longblock back in, but now you're saying **** it and you're gonna take the tranny out, assemble the motor and then put it back in?

I think I get what ur saying now. I was confused..

I think you got it right the last time. Let me rephrase.

Pulled the longblock, left tranny in. Hard to put longblock back in, so decided to pull the tranny out, assemble to LB (outside of car) and install back into car.

It's easy man> Just take off the little C shaped clip and then you'll see the pin w/ the hole going through it. It's an 8mm. So you need to get an 8mm punch, set it over the pin and hammer it out from the bottom. If you're using a regular hammer then it takes some effort to get it to budge.
