Default shift linkage

is there an easier way to take out the shift linkage from the tran. without using a punch..?? or is there a technique when takin it out with a punch??

None that I have discovered.

Come to think of it, I have only successfully removed that damn pin once. Other times I have left it attached to the transmission.

I usually leave it connected to the tranny,
But when i have had to remove it in the past i just used a regular screwdriver and tapped it slow and evenly, always try and tap it around the edges not straight down the hole in the middle.
