LS tranny best for FI??
I have been reading a lot about turbo guys swapping to an LS tranny so that they stay in boost longer. My question is, would the LS tranny be benificial on on a JRSCed car??
I got a GSR tranny with a KAAZ LSD on my LS. Actually it works pretty good, I think my car would be a lil slower with the LS tranny but then again I would prolly stay in boost a lil bit longer. I say one of the best mods for a N/A LS is a gsr or b16 tranny. IMO
well in that case! anyone wanna buy an ls trans lol
(the only reason why i got my ls trans was my gsr trans blew misshift and my friend had a wrecked teg and gave it to me for $300 so i took it ) maybe one day ill rebuild the gsr one and put a nice diff in it (hmmmmmm thinkin to myself that doesnt sound liek a bad idea
)

so many people are misinformed...myself until now as well, thought that the longer gearing would keep you in boost longer hence making u faster

You could keep the LS trans and swap in some GSR gears. I don't really know anything about this buy I heard about a guy in Tampa (Rocky if any of you know) that had SFP swap in a 3rd and 4th gear from a GSR trans and ran a 10.2@135 . I'm just letting you know that maybe having the LS trans might not be a total loss.

the main reason most FI people switch from short geared trannys(GSR or Type R) to LS is because the torque multipler it so high on the short geared trannys that they cant keep the wheels, even slicks, planted. So if you could keep the wheels planted and you didnt run out of gears in the 1/4mile then the shorter the ratio the better. Another thing to consider is gas milage, engine reliability, and top speed. The shorter the gears the higher the revs will be at a particular speed, which will give you worse gas milage. The sustained higher rpm's will also ruin the motor faster.
i am planning on buying an ls tranny mainly because i can get one pretty cheap and if it breaks,i will be out a lot less money than if i broke a r tranny.also,now that i have plenty of power the r gears seam to be way to short.it seams like i have to shift before i pass the 60 ft mark.it also is at to high rpm's on the interstate.
You wouldn't be slower if you are running taller gears...if you were comparing the same gear ratios that would be one thing, but you aren't.

u should get a LS tranny if u have to put ur car in 5th before the end of the quarter mile

Would a LS tranny with GSR 3rd and 4th gear work perfect because of the closer gears and than you still have the long LS fifth gear and LS final drive??
after I install my LS tranny I'll post the difference in 60ft times and *** dyno recordings...
Some people need to do more research because a lot of Top racers use after market wide ratio gear sets from Quaife, OS Giken, and another company that escapes by beer contaminated memory!
