HELP! Idle Drops and Stalls motor ..After hitting boost? Sometimes!
b18c1 - Stock
obd1 Uberdata
t3to4e - Tial/Greddy BoV
Ngk Bkr7e .28/.30 gap
MSD Wires
Ok, heres the situation:
I full Throttle my car into 8k Rpm.. Boosting 5psi *I know I needa turn it up*Enoguh for STi and EVo. -=P No need.
Anyways.. After I get into boost and let of gas, it will normally decelerate down back to IDLE 700rpm and IDLES. But instead, when it drops, it drops ALL the way down to ZERO rpm and motor dies. No Cel. Etc. I restart the IGN and everything runs normally. Any Idea why it does this SOMETIMES? Once every few days.
Car ran fine for 7+ months already, just notice this problem until now. 12.1 AFR in Boost. 13-15 in IDLE..etc
Anyone ever experienced?

My car does almost the same thing... First time I go into boost after cold start it accelerates fine, and feels good, but when I let out and start to decel, I just smell massive amounts of raw fuel, CEL comes on, and car shuts off... Restart it, and it runs fine.... Uberdata is some weird ****....
Hmm, I dont have a CEL though.
Doesnt seem to run rich, I guess wont hurt to check again. Datalog time.

My car has done that a time or two...
Many times if I am driving at high RPMs then push the clutch in the RPMs drop down to almost 0 and then come back up to 750 where I have my idle set at... this didn't start happening until I replaced my clutch. It has only actually died on me two times in the last two months so I don't really worry about it. If it started happening more often I might be concerned.
The two times it did die I just put it in gear and let the clutch out. I don't know why it happened and I am interested in finding out what others have to say about it.

Mine has done it acouple times within warm up time. But when oil pressure is at 25 at idle no problems. Just need to let the car warm up alittle, for me anyways. So no problems this year.
Also..the problem would happen more last year, and found changing my plugs helped alot.

I had a similar problem but it was pretty much every time I let off the gas, boost or not (after warm up). My problem was traced to a bad O2 sensor. I was running so rich that it was blowing out the spark. Check your plugs. Mine were black as night and covered in crud and fuel.
I replaced the plugs and sensor, and the problem was solved. I drove it 800 miles the next day and it didnt die once.

I just replaced the Plugs not to long ago. ( Old plugs were golden.. PERFECT )..
And Im running Open Loop, So No o2 here.
Any others got opinions? Maybe the Warm weather is Riching up my Fuel...Hmm

i thought i was the only one who's experiencing this problem...
mine is a 99 SiR with stock internal engine, boosting 7psi, obd1 ecu(P08) and using uberdata 1.7.
each time i hit boost and let the car decelerate normally in gear then i'd step on the clutch the tach needle would just dive down and the car would stall but if i didn't hit boost, stalling doesn't occur. there are couple of times when i would shift the gear to neutral quickly before the tach would dive further and the engine didn't stall. it can get irritating coz each boost would result in a stall for me.
if the engine didn't stall it would run lean for a few seconds and will be hard to drive but after few seconds it will become normal again. 2 of my friends are actually experiencing this leaning issue after each boost run but i'm the only one who's experiencing the stalling, if i didn't stall then it would be running lean for a few seconds like what they're experiencing.
i don't know if there is something wrong with the car, ecu or tuning. i am not getting any cel.

Hmm, good. Knowing Im not the only one either. Bump for someone, who might have this problem fixed.
Im running .3bar on my b18c1 with a gt28rs and have a idle problem as well. I think it is all in the tune plus a o2 sensor issue. I have the same problems with idle that everyone else has described it happens when coming from boost or just regular driving. Adjusted the idle on the throttle body to raise to 1100rpm but still runs like **** down low and great if your putting some throttle to it. Also get the ocational code 01 (02a sensor)(hondata s200) think my sensor has gone bad from running rich as hell up high. Its actually starting to discolor my bumper... I gotta get back to a wideband and my tuner soon.
do you have any idea what's your TPS reading with the throttle closed? helms manual stated that it should be approximately 0.45V but since my TB has some problems the TPS reading on mine was intentionally set to 0.36V, i don't know if this is the issue.
i also tried swapping the MAP sensor from a CRV but haven't tested it yet since i'm waiting for my new turbo pipings. if it's not the MAP then i'll try to bring the TPS voltage to 0.45V. if that didn't work then i may have to look at the tuning again.
btw, are you using resistor box for your injectors or radio shack 10ohm resistors?

i have the exact same problem as you and it's driving me nuts.
what obd1 ecu are you using? version of uberdata?
i'm using 1.7 and a JDM P08 (same as P28) ecu
what value did you put in the fuel cut value on the boost tab? are you using an OEM MAP sensor?
i adjusted mine to 14 coz what i read on the uberdata forum is that you divide base value of 24 by the MAP sensor value so for OEM it's 24/1.75 is 13.71 so about 14. i tried this last night and the engine still stalled! i will try to set it at a lower value and try it out..

I wonder if this could be because of OBD2 to OBD1 conversions also. i've got a friend that has the same issue. He has a boosted 00 Civic runnin uberdata with a p28.
Could it be the IACV or the PCV valve? Does the idle stay steady or does it pulse?
I hope it's not a problem with Uberdata b/c I'm going to use it this sumer.

^^^^ i think it's the IAVC.........take it off and clean it with brake/carb cleaner. And/or if you got an obd2/obd1 conversion, unplug the EVAP solenoid......makes idle run real good
Peace.

This happened to me about 2 months ago. My car would RARELY die. I think it died 3 times in like 10 months of being boosted. I replaced my distributor, and it hasn't happened since.
I, too, have been using Uberdata. I'm always seeing similar problems with people using Ubedata. I think the switch to AEM or Hondata is drawing near.

My B18C1 with Greddy Kit does the same thing.....but I have a lightened flywheel. I was thinking that is part of the problem, but also I just replaced my TPS and IAVC parts and it seemed to get better....the drop isn't as low now. Maybe drops to 600-700rpm. I've still got to check the voltage on the TPS. It also happens after I run my AC. I wish I could figure this out.
i tried setting the fuel cut value at 14 (24/1.75 MAP)and it still dies on me..
the idle is not pulsating and it only happens to me when decelerating after FULL BOOST. cleaned the IACV already.
i will try to unplug the EVAP solenoid and see if it helps. but this never happened to a lot friends car which is the same as mine (SiR), boosted and running uberdata 1.7
it's an obd2 to obd1 conversion using a JDM P08 ecu. i wonder if people are having similar problems running 1.8..
