Ok, you need to run the plastic tube from the gauge down to the rubber boot in the fire wall. Once you get it passed the boot then tap the vaccum line.

That is why I chose the Greddy electrical gauge because I'd rather run a wire than a plastic tube. Plus it looks nicer. But thats my honest opinion.

The greddy mech does look nicer, but the with the autometer there is a more clear distinction between being in boost and being in vaccuum.

The rest of what art said about routing the tube was 100% correct though. Just make sure you dont pinch that small dia plastic tube in any way, or your readings will be incorrect.

when i got the car back from my hondata tuner, the small plastic wire was apparently cut, and the rest of it was covered in a much thicker plastic black hose...so we fed the thick hose down the corner of the dash, came out the bottom, then fed it through the hole in the firewall. then we cut a bigger hole in the grommet w/ a razor, fed it through there into the engine bay. the hardest part was getting that damn grommet back on..took about 20 minutes of tweekin. finally, the boost gauge was on and reading correctly(3 and a half lbs at third gear WOT)...well, tomorrow the other wires get hooked up. thanks for the help guys!

I just ditched the hard plastic and put 90 degree barb fitting in the back of my autometer boost gauge... Worked like a champ Ran decent hard Napa Vacuum hose into the cab through a new hole I drilled just left of the brake booster while the engine was out

i ran mine thru the gommet at the bottom of the battery where my fat 0 gauge stereo wire goes. mechanical boost gauges may not be pimpin, but they work fine. How many MAP sensors does your car really need?

*Idea* Why doesn't one of these big companies make a gauge that runs off the ECU's MAP signal? I guess because it would be recalibrated for different sensors...now that would be sweet.

Falcon - EXCELLENT IDEA! The MOST accurate FREE to tap into electronic boost sensor of all... stock map sensors

BUT. GM map sensors won't send the same signal as a Nissan, Toyota, Honda, or Mitsu, will it?

thanks.. but it wouldn't work for those guys using those check valves, which are more 'gay' than a mechanical gauge, in my humble and biased opinion.

it wouldnt work directly for cars like mitsu with MAF or speed density sensors, either.

Even if they have MAF or speed density, they still have to have a MAP sensor, no?

Tap the power and ground off the dimmer switch if it's a mechanical gauge. That way lights come on and the gauge lights come on,lights go off and the gauge lights go off.
