Default rust buster

Ok I’m sure someone has something better, but I’ve never heard of it. Here is the story. I’m moving and I had these really bad rust stains in the toilet. It was because some jackass put nuts on the flapper instead of just going to wal-mart and buying a new one for 2-3 bucks. So I fixed it and scrubbed the hell out of the bowl and I couldn’t get the rust off . I found a toilet cleaner (SnoBol that said it remover rust, I was like right but ill try. I put it on and in like 2 seconds it was gone. So I started wondering if it would work on metal. I took off one of the nuts that was in the tank (it was covered in rust) and put it in a cup with this stuff. Scrubbed it a little with a tooth brush and all the rust was gone. You can see the pitting from the rust but all the rust was gone. Just thought if someone is fighting rust this might help. Oh yeah don’t get it on your skin it burns like hell.

Wow, looks like good stuff. And the best part is it leaves your old rusty stuff nice and clean with a 'Fresh Clean Scent.' Thanks for the tip, - Darrell

iron out, go buy that and let it sit on there for a while and scrub it off. Its some caustic ****, dont breathe the fumes cuz they burn the **** out of your throat, but it will take the stains out.

I know a while back I found this stuff called Ospho at a Car Quest while I was stationed in South Carolina. It was this green liquid in a clear bottle that you spray onto rust and it dissolves away.

stainless doesnt mean that it wont ever stain or rust or what ever. It just means that it will do it less than normal steel. Good find, i might have to use that when I tackle my rust problem this summer!

according to some thread i read, stainless steel can rust (albiet lil spots of rust, not huge areas) due to the process of welding on hangers. when welding, some small bits of molten steel may get onto the stainless teel muffler, and although most companies try and remove as much as possible, some may not get rid of it all.

so anyone think this could work on a muffler without damaging it?

anyone use rust CONVERTER before? it actually reverses the process of oxidation and converts the rust back to metal, and allows you to sand it back to it's original smooth finish.

great for ppl who's rust hasn't eaten all the way through already.

I tried it today and so far I'm very impressed with the results. I had to do a little scrubbing with a tooth brush, but it's working. Sure beats sanding.

abnaasefmb, nice find and thanks for sharing.
