I've noticed that my temp needle gets really close to overheating but never goes into the red. Sometimes when i press the brake the needle drops to normal instantly, so that kind of rules out that its actually overheating. With that I've come to the conclusion that its electrical. Can someone tell me where the engine temp is taken and what wires are involved? Or tell me where it would be in the manual?

I had a problem like that and it was caused by a poor engine ground. I had a engine swap and the ground on the valve cover was not installed. Then there was a poor connection on the ground wire on the trans. and my temp needle would jump around. Once I cleaned up the trans ground wire and put the wire on the valve cover everything was fine.

So check to make sure that your engine ground wires are well connected.

If you do this and still have a problem, you may have a faulty thermostat (no big deal to replace).

 

I wouldent think thermostate issue just yet, but i would consider that there is perhaps air trapped in the system otherwise you could have a bad thermo sending unit, but the termostate is one of the easiest to change out and the cheapest for a DIY. But i would check your grounds first like whats his name said then go off my list of things to check.

 

Thanks for the responses but i no longer need them...my car was stolen AGAIN last night...i pray to god that i dont have to get another honda cuz im through. I loved my car and there are too many lazy ******* that dont want to work for what they have. i want to be away from it. i had no money as it were and this is "the nail in the coffin" financially.
