Was browsing ebay for **** this morning, and ran acrossed a few turbo kits...yes i know they are cheaply price and the saying goes "you get what you pay for" but is there anyone out there using these? any luck? what kind of numbers and quality....
not worth it, I bought one, and replaced everything except the wastegate, bov, and manifold
However, I did sell all the other parts and made back quite a bit of money, so I actually came out ahead, but just keep in mind half the **** in those kits is worthless.
On a side note I'm running the SSAC wastegate, bov and manifold and have not had any problems with any of them for 4 months now
I did brace the turbo though, so that might have something to do with it.

We installed an ebay kit for a local guy. He bought the kit before he met us, so we recommended him to get Hondata, injectors, etc. His fuel system was excellent, the turbo kit...failure. The kit included an SSAutochrome manifold, fake tial wastegate, a garrett/turbonetics super 60 T3(??), Monza blow-off valve, piping, and downpipe.
We had to fabricate a new downpipe(2.5") because the kit gave us a gay chrome 2" downpipe. The intercooler piping had to be recut and rewelded.
During the tuning session, the blow-off valve never worked, so we replaced it with a TurboXS one halfway through. It made good power. 309 to the wheels on a LS-VTEC at 15 psi boost.
On the drive home from the dyno, I noticed a little smoke. He did a couple of pulls on the highway, and the wastegate decided not to regulate boost anymore. Luckily Hondata's boost cut saved him. The turbo also started smoking continuously, it blew the oil seal on the exhaust side.
The turbo kit didn't last the trip home(20 minutes.) We took the wastegate apart and found some setscrews inside the top part of the wastegate that had fell out and were just rolling around. After we put it back together, it would still hold boost, but the continuous smoke from the turbo was unbearable.
Now the car is in pieces waiting for a real turbo setup, and a built motor.
Don't get me wrong, some people get lucky and never have a problem with their Ebay kits, but all it takes is one time. Sorry this is so long...

^^good story^^
I go a local shop around my area and they also installed an SSAC kit from Ebay on a B16 CRX. The turbo it came with ALSO leaked oil really bad after 1 day and they had to replace it. I would personally just use ebay to find good deals on seperate parts and patiently piece together what basic components I can, and get a good shop to fabricate the rest.

Ill add to the horror stories.
I dropped by a local shop that had just installed a turbo kit on a B16 CRX, it made nice power on the dyno but also started smoking like a chimney while on the dyno, the turbo seals were blown with less than a mile on them.

just wanted to also add.. a buddy of mine thinks that he's getting a deal on a complete turbo kit for $1200 bucks from a shop.. sad thing is, its one of these egay kits and he's having a hard time deciding what to do.. LISTEN to me, or give the shop his hard earned money for a couple minutes of fun and countless hrs of headache afterwards..
HOpefully I can sway him my way and help him go the right route..

i bought a kit off of ebay and I had change all of my charge pipes, downpipe, FMU and the oil feed line. the only that was in good condition was the wastegate and blow off valve becasue they were brand new, the intercooler and the turbo manifold. all i bought was someone elses problems. i would suggest that you go and piece your own kit together because at least you know what you're getting.
Id becarful buying a turbo anywhere on the internet except for a really company. I bought my kit off of group buy center and like a mile down the road my turbo blew an oil seal and I had to get it rebuilt.
for the price is everything is ok but the tubro spend a 100 bucks on the turbo and get it rebuilt and be done with it so you have a nice little setup for 800 bucks or less
do you give every break your turbos in?
i have bought many new turbos and you are suppose to break them in for like 500 before going to high boost levels

Not necessarily true in my opinion.. as long as u prime it the 1st time its installed, you should be good to go... also, gotta check the feed and drain lines, it not done properly, the seals will go.. i've had 3 new turbos in the past 3 yrs and they all have been good to me cuz i followed the correct procedures.. my sc61 is still running strong to this day w/o any oil leaks, and i've boosted about 14 psi since day one...
