94 Vtec dhoc. Hard to start, random misses at idle, hesitation when opening throttle
Thanks for looking at my thread. This regards a 94 del sol.
When starting the car it will turn over freely (not even trying to start) for quite a while. After cranking for 40 seconds (10 seconds at a time or so to keep the starter from overheating) it will start. If you leave the car idle for a long time you can hear random misses. Sometimes after idling for 10 or so minutes it will stall.
If you open the throttle too quick (what you would see under everyday driving) the engine will stop producing power until you let up a little. Opening it slowly allows it to reach high rpm.
As the car got older the previous owner decided to do nothing but oil changes and gas. The spark plugs where so worn they had about .7 gap. The wires where original, etc..
So far I have replaced the plugs, wires, distributor (with coil), fuel filter and other random items. At first we thought it was a fuel pump issue we ruled this out. I have tested that each plug is getting spark and while idling and the diag wires jumped adjusted the timing.
Im at my wits end. Can you guys give me some direction?
(I work on subaru's regularly so Im not afraid to get dirty. Please give me the fully technical answer if possible)
