Sounds like you answered your own question. Start with the basics, and cheapest fixes first, sometimes even a quick rundown on items will show you the answer your looking for..

Spark + Fuel + Air = keys to a proper running motor...

plugs, wires, fuel filter, cap, rotor, and Seafoam or Lucas Injector cleaner would be a good start, all for easily under $75...

NO. It wont if you follow this easy step. DO NOT REMOVE EVERYTHING AT ONCE. Do it in stages. For example. If you are replacing spark plugs. Do one at a time. That way you don't get the wires messed up. Then if you are changing the wires, do them one at a time, so you know which goes where. Same goes for when you replace the distributor, take one wire off at a time and place it on the new dizzy in the same way it was on the old one. Before you remove the OLD dizzy, make sure to use a marker to highlight where the bolts are (while the bolts are on, go around the outside of them, so you can mount the new in in the same EXACT spot.)

And that's it. Car mechanics is really simple when you just slow down and think about things. Don't worry about rushing, and if you are in a hurry, don't do the work that day.

rotor button is mad easy to remove. I gutted my d15 that I bought and put the internals in my d16 dizzy. Worked like a charm.

when the engine is off, (ha-durr) pull the dizzy cap off. you will see a inner cap (plastic, woot woot) and the rotor button. if you cannot see a screw on the rotor button (top side) then crank your engine for one "click". then check it, if it still doesn't show the screw, do it again, and if so again. out of one of those you will see the screw. Simply unscrew it, and put a new one on. Hand tight is all you need really.

Mechanics is VERY simple, the problem is many think "oh I've never done it and never seen how to do it, so WTF". But the truth is, just sit down, clam yourself, and think about the task at hand. I took my dizzys apart and swapped internals and I had no ****ing clue what I was doing. It all turned out great, because I sat down (literally and figuratively) and thought out what needed to be done and then slowly executed.

I always say, if you in a rush, DON'T WORK ON YOUR CAR. Rushing is bad, hence why I stopped being a general auto mechanic. Businesses want to get **** done quick cheap and simple. Cars ARE NOT QUICK CHEAP AND SIMPLE. Places like Jiffy Lube hire retards right out of high school who don't know dick about cars, and then have them do your oil, and strip your drain nut because they are being rushed, and have no clue what to do. If they weren't being rushed, I bet they would learn better, but that doesn't happen.

Good luck with your shizit bro, hope you get it fixed and running like butter :D
