Did you do a tuneup (spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor rotor, and distributor cap)??
If your idle is really low, it's going to sputter when you start, b/c it's not picking up fast enough.
try starting it at 10% throttle and see if it still sputters on start, if it doesn't, raise the idle. You have an idle adjust screw on the throttle body.
