FAQ: Integra Dash Into EG
If You Do This Swap Post Pics!
Hey Guys,
I see an awful lot of questions on how to correctly install an Integra dash into an EG. A thread will pop up at least once a week on it. Since I just finished my dash conversion I figured I'd offer some helpful tips that might help you out when you do yours.
Assumptions
I'm going to take a couple of things for granted. I assume you know how to remove your civic dash. If you do not, go here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=600430
Also, I'm assuming you have the following parts:
Complete 94-01 Integra Dash with center console and arm rest
Civic Underdash Harness
Integra Underdash Harness (OBD-1)
Integra Fan Blower with or without the heater core
Wiring
Ok, there are a couple of ways to effectively wire your new dash to get it 90-100% working. You WILL need both civic and Integra underdash harnesses because you'll have to combine plugs of both. You can either use your civic harness and splice the two Integra plugs that go directly to the gauge cluster, OR you can use the Integra harness and splice the one gray civic plug that goes into the fuse box. Both methods are discussed below.
Civic Harness Spliced to Integra Plugs
To do it this way you'll need to cut the two blue (13pin and 16pin) Integra gauge plugs and splice them into the civic harness. You'll need to know what year your Integra cluster is and what year your Integra harness gauge plugs are, because there are slight differences between 94-97 and 98-01 ones. This is the mess youll make:
To get the Integra clock working, you will need to cut off the clock plug off the Integra harness and splice it into civic harness. The clock plug is connected by 4 wires (BLK, RED/BLK, YEL, WHT/BLUE) on both the Integra and Civic harnesses. All you need to do is swap plugs.
To get the Integra dimmer switch working all you'll need to do again is swap plugs. The wires are the same on both the civic and Integra harnesses (BLK, RED/BLK, RED) but the plugs are different.
I don't know how you'll get the Integra hazard switch to work. The wires and pin locations are completely different between the Civic and Integra plugs. I've heard that most people just tuck the civic hazard switch somewhere reachable under the dash, so they can retain their hazards.
Integra Harness Spliced to Civic Grey Plug
I recommend wiring your dash in this way. It's so simple. There are 3 plugs that plug into your fuse box from your underdash harness. The blue and green Integra plugs fit in, but the grey one is too big, and won't fit. This is what you'll alter. What you do is cut off the civic grey plug and splice it to the Integra harness. This is the wiring diagram I came up with:
Integra Wire --> Civic Wire
WHT/GRN --> WHT/GRN
RED/GRN --> RED/GRN
RED --> RED
BRN/BLK --> BRN/BLK
YEL/GRN --> YEL/GRN
BLUE --> BLUE (2 White Dots)
Deep Blue --> Deep Blue (SRS)
GRN/ORG --> GRN/ORG
YEL/RED --> YEL/RED
ORANGE --> YEL/BLUE
BLUE/YEL --> BLUE/YEL
The following Integra wires will be left out:
RED/BLUE
BLUE/RED
LIME GREEN
YELLOW
Blue (1 White Dot)
This is what your final product will look like:
Now, to get your turn signals to work you will need to splice the YEL/BLK wire that was on the Integra grey plug, to the YEL wire on the big green plug. Here is a pic of mine, sorry, bad pic and I used like 3 wires to get the correct length:
Now to get the sunroof working I believe you'll simply need to swap the civic plug onto the Integra harness. I don't have an SI myself so I didn't personally test this: The civic wires for the sunroof switch are (YEL,BLUE,YEL/RED,BLK) and the pin is this format: 1 2 3 4
The Integra sunroof switch has a different pin format:
1 2
3 4
I BELIEVE the wires are the same color. Swap them over. Should work.
There, that's it. No splicing for the clock, dimmer, or hazard. This is the best way to do it.
HEAT and AC
You will need to use the Integra fan blower because the civic one sits too high under the dash and the Integra dash will hit it. Here is a pic of the Integra fan blower:
And here is a pic of the civic fan blower:
You can see that the civic fan blower is a little taller than the Integra one. That's the problem. All you do is swap the two and then you're set. The civic heat and AC wiring harness will work with the Integra fan blower and climate control so you're set there too.
Once you've swapped the fan blower, your car should look something like this:
You are now ready to mount the Integra dash in place.
Mounting the Dash
The first step is to drop your steering column. If you try and put the dash in the car, you'll see that it won't fit. You'll either need to trim a huge amount of the plastic behind the gauge cluster OR, you could trim the steering column support. I don't know why, but I did both. I don't have pics of what parts to cut on the dash, but it's pretty straight forward. Here are some pics of what I cut on the steering column support:
This will not compromise the support of this bar. It still serves it's purpose. I'd recommend just cutting the plastic of the dash before you cut the steering column support because it's easier, less time consuming and safer.
Once you get the dash to fit properly line it up with the center console bolt and bolt it down. Then you'll need to drill in the dash plastic behind the clock to get that bolt to line up. You'll need to drill a hole a little higher than the stock hole. With these two bolts in place, your dash will be secure.
Now a lot of people recommend using the Integra dash mounts so I bought them off a local HT'er but when it came down to the install they would not line up with the holes in the frame so I used the civic dash mounts. Here is a pic of them (civic mounts are on the right):
I haven't bolted my dash to the dash mounts yet, but even so, my dash is secure and not moving at all. You will need to drill the dash plastic to get a hole to line up with the mount, but that's no problem. I recommend that you do this especially on the driver's side, because if you don't, your dash will sit a tiny bit higher on the driver's side.
Door Panels
As most of you know the Integra door panels will not fit the civic door because they are too long and not wide enough, also the civic door panels will not close properly after you install your new Integra dash. The reason is because the civic door mold is not long enough for the Integra dash. Alot of people heat up the civic door and then mash it closed to form the new mold. This method works, but I wanted to try my idea:
First, remove the panel and then remove the weather stripping that runs along the top of the panel:
Then peel back the vinyl around the door mold. Be careful during this step because if you remove it too fast you run the risk of tearing it. I tore mine right where it meets the carpet part of the door and I don't know if I can fix it. It should look a little something like this:
Next, close the door and guestimate how much you'll need to dremel to get it to close properly. Draw a line to where you think your new cut will be, like so:
My first line was not enough. Cut about an inch at the top, 3/4midway, 1/2inch at the bend and 1/2inch for the rest of the way down.
Now start cutting your line. When your finished that, cut anoter line on the opposing side of the arc you'll be cutting off. Cut it on the flat part, as close as possible to the point where it starts to slope up. Like this:
The top part will be a little tricky because some of the plastic is attached to the support that rests on the actual door frame. Here is the part I'm talking about:
Just cut it flush enough so that your dash won't hit it when closed. Do not cut the inside of it. You still want it to be able to work.
In this pic, you can see that it rests the door panel on the door itself:
In the end, your cut should look like this:
Now test to see if it closes snug (bad pic):
This is as far as I got last night. The next step would be to go out and get some spray can glue and glue the vinyl as tight as possible back to your door panel.
Here's a pic of the fitment:
Now remember, those little ripples from the bottom are from me peeling back the vinyl too fast and ******* up. If you're careful, that won't happen to you. The big ripple is because the vinyl isn't glued down yet. Hopefully, I'll be able to fix those bottom ripples when I glue it.

Inevitable Downsides
Here are some bad pics of the gap that you'll inevitably have on either side. If you can't deal with this, then don't start the swap to begin with. Sorry for bad pics:
Carpet
Sort of off topic, but I was swapping my old grey carpet with a new black one. I bought it off ebay and the description said it was precut and pre molded. That was deceiving. Pre cut, meant it just was cut in a big square. It wasn't wide enough either. Premolded meant that it was sort of shaped. I had to cut every hole for the center console, seats, everything. Here is a pic of it:
If you want a black carpet, just get an OEM Integra one. I've heard that they fit in perfectly. My carpet sucks.

I want to also mention is if you can't get Integra cluster plugs, you can use 96-00 Civic plugs with wires as well. However, some of the wires will be different colors and you'll need to repin the wires. All you need to repin the wires is a medium sized safety pin.

The Teg door panels are too long length wise and too short height wise. I have Teg door panels too and I tested them and there was NO WAY they would go on with out some major fab work from a professional. And that's not me.

i have a question. how the **** do you take the fan blower out of the integra, i took out as many screws as i could and it wouldn't budge. somebody help me out please.. http://www.we-todd-did-racing....D.jpg

You'll disconnect them right by the firewall. Careful, they'll leak coolant, so aim them up.
