Strange noise
Hey guys, the other day when I was getting my car tuned it started making a very strange / bad noise between idle and 2krpm. its very similar to the noise the lude in this video is making but a little louder https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1245732
I have replaced all the lma's, and my compression was 190 190 185 190. I noticed today that it only starts happening after the motor has been running for a few minutes and starts warming up.
Since my compression was good I thought it might be clutch/ transmission related... but it seems to go into gear fine and move without a problem
background info:
ls-v
arias pistons (rings gap .018 & .020)
eagle rods
9.6:1 compression
If anyone can help or just give me a place to start looking it would be greatly appreciated

I tried once and had a hard time pinpointing the noise, i'm going to try agian though.

Wouldn't I have bad compression if the head was cracked anywhere?

what also works quite well, take a phillips screw driver, stick the point on the head, or where you want to try to pinpoint the noise, then take the part where your hand goes and put that to your ear, it works almost as good as a stethiscope.

Hey everyone, I finally figured it out. It was the vtec solenoid. For some reason (maybe bad wiring) I was getting 12v directly to the solenoid constantly. So after the car warmed up vtec would kick on and off at idle. This not only made a really bad noise but caused the car to run like complete ****. Now that its fixed its a night and day difference in the way it runs.
