Sounds like this is what i need to do. There are 2 bolts that hold the mechanism to the steering column, but theres no real way to attach something to get them off..

It also talks about some type of pin that you have to push. Check that out as well. It's in one of the later posts on that thread.

Yeah , mine were blank. No slit at all. lol.
I looked at it and i was like? WTF?
Best way is to chisel a slit and try to tap them out.
I replaced them with some new heavy duty bolts/nuts and washers when i put it on the car again.

Re: Removing Ignition Lock Cylinder
I just had to do this a few weeks ago thanks to would be thieves who couldn't get my hatch down the road. The whole ignition lock assembly was broken.
A chisel and a hammer above the 2 pictured "bolts" and pound away. Your new one (if it's like mine was from Honda) will have new bolts.
3 screws under neath the steering column itself. That cover along with the top cover will come off.
2 small screws hold in the ignition switch harness. Take those out.
Then begin to pound the assembly out.
If you want to use your existing key, the tumbler comes out of your old assembly quite easily.
Good luck.

Re: Removing Ignition Lock Cylinder
Nobody has said anything about how you remove your lock cylinder if you can NOT get your key to turn to the "I" position. My friend's Pilot key will still fit the doors....I also had a new key cut with the VIN and it will not turn the cylinder. I need to get it out and have a new one re-cut to fit the VIN and the keys. What should I do?

Re: Removing Ignition Lock Cylinder
There is an excellent video on youtube.
The switch bolts are bolt torque off, that means when you tighten the bolt, the head snaps off, at a preset torque setting leaving the round dome carriage bolt like fitting head.
You grind a slot, or chisle the bolt head off.
Remove the switch, then there are three pins that need to be punched out, of the switch to allow the cylinder to be removed.
Go to youtube and look for a video titled "honda ignition lock repair"

Hope this helped.
