GAS SMELL IN CABIN!!!
Hey HT heads,
I got a quick question about my 96 Accord EX...
HELP ME STOP GETTING HIGH OFF OF GAS FUMES, PLEASEEEE!!!
I just got it about 2 weeks ago and I can't seem to find out what's the problem. I'm getting gas vapors inside the car. I took it to the muffler shop and replaced the muffler and resonator, put in new NGK Spark plugs, EGR valve (Auto) and cleaned the injectors. I was thinking the charcoal canister or fuel filter, or maybe even the cat converter... If any of you have had this problem and might know a solution, (other than dropping the tank, or replacing the fuel filter) let me know ASAP... If you need more info, let me know! ALSO, NO PRESSURE FROM GAS TANK FILLER HOLE... REPLACED CAP A WEEK AGO, STILL GOT THE PROBLEM...
96 Accord EX
F22B1 SOHC V-Tec Engine
Bone Stock
Exhaust mani heat shield still intact... (might be the ex mani?) Let me know!
Thanks in advance!

Re: GAS SMELL IN CABIN!!!
Not that I know of. The car did have a system installed before I got it. It has to be coming in from the outside because if I have the windows up, the smell doesn't come in. If I have my sunroof open and windows down, it starts to smell like a gas station. The smell is sick!
ALSO: I AM NOT GETTING ANY PRESSURE FROM MY FILLER CAP... I REPLACED THE CAP A WEEK AGO, BUT TO NO AVAIL... I DO NOT HAVE PRESSURE COMING FROM MY GAS TANK!!!

Re: GAS SMELL IN CABIN!!!
@ jdm, the funny thing is the car has to be rolling to get the strong smell. But if I had to pick a place where it's the strongest, I would have to say the front passenger area... My girl has to smell her shirt when I drive.

My wagon had the same issue. I checked the fuel lines and nothing. It was the bolt/screw that it is in the bottom of the fuel tank. It wasn't tight all the way.

Re: GAS SMELL IN CABIN!!!
Take off the heat shield on the exhaust mani to see if it cracked.
Let the car run look under the hood see if you see any fuel leaks, check the fuel filter first, check the fuel rail, it is under a lot of pressure you will see it.
Check the fuel pump, if it like civics pull up the back seat and see if you see anything.
Worst case, you might have to pull the gas tank to see if it is cracked (unlikely)
