Hey guys I am having a wierd problem with tire wear. I am lowered on eibach pro kit and tokico illuminas and had an alignment done. Here were the results. The alignment was done in march so it has been about 6 months.

Front Camber Left -1.1*
Front Camber Right -1.8*
Rear Camber Left -2.2*
Rear Camber Right -2.6*
Front Toe Left 0*
Front Toe Right 0*
Rear Toe Left .07*
Rear Toe Right 0*
Thrust Angle .03*

Now heres my problem. The rear left (drivers rear) tire has abnormal wear. It wore fine except all the way in on the inside of the tire. The very very inside of the tire looked like it was scraping against the ground and not rolling. It was maybe 1" wide and 1/2" in on the tire all the way around that was bald.


All the three other tires wear perfectly normal. It wore so much that I got a blowout and ruined my Bridgestone S-03. I know I have a lot of camber in the rear but the passenger rear looks fine. My guess is the .07* toe (positive value is out or in? I am guessing out) caused the excessive wear. The thing is, I want to make sure that is the problem before I go ruin another set of tires. Right now I have some cheap *** replacement on there so I dont ruin another expensive tire. I think I am going to shim the rear to get the camber in spec, get 4 new tires and go for an alignment.

Is .07 degrees excessive toe that would cause this wear or is it something else?

0.07' is minimal. But why do you have that much rear negative camber? That is just killing tires for nothing.

camber does not kill tires, toe does. Camber will exagerate any toe problems you have but it wont kill tires. As you can see in the right rear i have more negative camber but normal wear since the toe is spot on.

Camber doesn't wear out tires if the toe is zeroed out. Period. If you just lower your car without getting an alignment your camber will increase + your toe will also be thrown off = bad tire wear. In this case, there is something else going on.

Camber WILL take it's toll on your tires over time. It just doesn't wear out your tires as fast as incorrect toe does.

..couldn't have said it better myself....i have a hard time believing that .07 toe out would chew up a tire that fast though..

How long is "over time" then?
I was running 2 degrees of camber for a whole year with 0 toe (did my own alignment at the shop) and my tires were evenly worn (barely)

I went throuh about 4/32 of tread to a hole in the tire in 6 months

Are you sure it's the alignment?

Maybe that wear is being caused by rubbing (perhaps by oversized tires). Did you take that tire off and look for wear in the fender well?

Just a thought...
