There's also an advantage: You're going to the track and the only track tires available for your wheels are a little smaller than stock. That's a very good reason. Much better than if they were slightly bigger than stock.

No no no, not my point exactly. The SPTs are also available in the stock size, and they're not track tires. I'm talking about track tires.

SPTs rock.
ive been using Kumho V700 R compounds as my daily rubber for a while and just got SPTs to replace when and put the semis in storage for trackuse.
the SPT is very grippy in the rain and dry.
ziex suck
326 329 512 all suck

Yes. If you want to know exactly how much it will throw your speedo off, go to http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Kumho MX is a street/autox/track tire, in a totally different league than the SPT or RE750. It's comparable to the Falken Azenis Sport and the Hankook R-S2, which have a treadwear rating of around 200. Expect awesome grip and handling but don't expect it to last too long.

205/50-15 is 1.6 percent smaller in diameter than your stock 195/55-15 size, so it will throw off the speedometer and odometer by that small percentage.
