I would say that they are arguably the best tire out.

Arguably... yeah, maybe. They're a really good street/occasional track or autocross tire, but they're expensive.

Some alternatives are Toyo T1S (also expensive), Yokohama AVS ES-100 (less expensive with maybe 90% of the S-03 performance), and Kumho Ecsta MX (also less expensive, probably close to the AVS-ES100 for performance).

If you're willing to pay, you'll get a really good tire.

I liked them. They are expensive. More expensive than the Falken Azenis. I got azenis after the s-03's and like the azenis waybetter. They grip better, lasted longer and they were cheaper.

195/50's in the S03's. And obviously 205/50 in the azenis.

The S-03's aren't that bad on TireRack.com, as far as price is concerned. If you do get them, DO NOT go through Firesone. There's a 35-40% markup on those.0

Azenis are not bad in the rain. Just avoid standing water like you would with any other tire and drive sensibly.

Just got my so3's couple of weeks ago, pretty good in wet weather :-) I think you'd get your money's worth, but its really your choice

I used to have S-02's, which were the predecessors to the S-03. Not a fair comparo of course, but the tires can't be THAT diff (S-03's had better wet traction, while dry traction and other features were about the same iirc, according to tirerack's reviews). I enjoyed the S-02's during auto-X and roadrace because grip was good and the tire gave pretty good feedback as to it's traction limits. However I don't think they gave good feedback on street driving. I would occasionally lose traction without notice sometimes on the slightest road surface irregularity, moreso than even the stock Contis on my grandmothers Caddillac.

Another thing I've heard, but don't have the stats to verify, is that the S-03's (and the Azenis) are some of the heavier hi-po tires out there compared to say the the Toyo T1-S, or the Pirelli P-Zero's. Maybe it's something to consider for the sake of unsprung weight. If it were up to me, I'd go for the Toyo T1-S. Price and traction is about the same, but the tires are lighter. However, the Azenis can't be beat in terms of the cost/dry grip value. Anyhow, I'm not claiming to be an expert, but that's my take.

i have 195/50-15 S-03's on my ITR wheels for winter and daily drivers. they handle really well, very sticky.. grabs really good on launches. they scream a little when pushed. but overall a very good tire, way better than everything else but my Azenis. much better than Kumho 712.

also have 205/50-15 Azenis on some 15x7 K1's for track/summer time. handle better than S-03 in dry, but wear faster and suck *** in the rain compared to the S-03. i got my S-03's on sale for $79 each.. thats why i got them, i think next time ill go with some AVS ES100's.
