Hey y'all, I hope someone may help me with the situation.

I recently bought some ADR Mach 8 rims for my 97 SH which is lowered. The person that I bought them from took them off his 99 Base Lude, also lowered. After I put the rims on I realized that the rear wheels were touching when making sharp corners and when exessive load hits the back.

The wheel specs are as follows;
17x7 40mm

I have 17/205/40ZR tires on.

Has anyone ever taken their rims to a machine shop to modify the rims because of the wrong offset?

I was just curious to see if a machinist can take off a few fraction of an inch to make them fit my Lude.

If that cannot work I may just have to try and sell or swap them.

i have been told it can be done but only like 3 mm or so..

i am assuming u are rubbing the outer fender, correct?

For some reason, especially with Mazda6's, this is a huge thing. People who get larger wheels usually have to get their fenders rolled even if they arent lowered. I have been considering it with my speed6 but dont know if I am going to modify it.

You can actually buy a fender roller or rent one from someone. You basically have to remove the wheel below the fender you are going to roll and the roller attaches to where your lugs would go, so it gives you an even roll. You usually want to utilize a heat gun too so you can heat up the paint a bit to reduce any chance of cracking in the paint. You basically do this 4 times over, once for each fender and you're good.

yea you can have the wheel milled a few mm's to increase your offset.

Its very easy to do. I have done it on a friends car when he first got it. Not hard at all, the way we did it was to run the heat gun about 8 inches away so not to singe the paint but to make it a little malleable. Then you give it one or two good rolls or until you're satisfied that its rolled in as far as you'd like.

Its very simple, the most labor is taking off the wheel and setting up the roller four times.

yup. they pretty much got it. roll that fender in. ur wheels will be nice and sungged nicely.

That should take you to a site where you can rent a fender roller. I would probably suggest finding people local to you who want to have a fender rolling meet or something like that to offset the cost of renting it. Good Luck.
