Default 37mm offset

I have been digging around the internet all day looking for info on what a safe offset would be for some new wheels for my car and I am hoping that some of you could help me out...

The car is a 2000 Civic EX 2dr. I am looking at getting the OZ Ultraleggera 17x7 wheels, they have a 37mm offset. The tires I am looking at are the Potenza 205/40zr17. I will be lowering aprx. 1.5" with a koni coilover set, but ride height is adjustable...

Basically I need to know if this will rub... if anyone is running this setup or one close to it with no probs, or if you just know your stuff and know whether or not this will work, please let me know... I just want some piece of mind before I drop 1600 on wheels and tires... Thanks

i hope you lower your car a considerable amount to make up for the 4x4 lift from your 17" wheels y0

I wish I knew what 4x4 lift referred to... If you mean to suggest that the new wheels and tires are larger in overall diameter than stock thus making the car sit higher, I, inexperienced as I am, would have to disagree basing my opinion on math alone.

Stock tire size: 185/65/14 = (185*.65)*2 = 240.5mm = 9.468in + 14 = 23.468in

Aftermarket size: 205/40/17 = (205*.4)*2 = 164mm = 6.456in + 17 = 23.456in

Again, based on math alone, NOT on experience, as I admittedly have none, the aftermarket wheels and tires would actually be a bit smaller than stock, albeit there is only a 12/1000in difference. Math skillz pwns j00. (If that is indeed what 4x4 lift means...)

At any rate this doesn't address my concern about the offset, I've already ordered them though so it doesn't really matter now. However if someone would like to put my mind at ease, or even to explain to me what 4x4 lift is, the floor is open. Thanks.
