One slit or multiple slits? Also, lets say the "slip fit" was achieved by expanding the tubing to slip over the inlet of the muffler. Lets say the inlet is 3" long, so the length of tubing that slips over the tubing is also 3" long.....How long would I make the slit or slits? 1.5"? 2"? Assuming the clamp I am using is a stainless t-bolt clamp that is 1.5" wide......

Or should we be expanding the inlet of the muffler to slip over the tubing? If that is the case, can that be done without "poping" the welds where the inlet meets the "canister?"

why not heat it so that the tip expands then rivet it in place.
