Ricer question about exhaust...
Ok please don't flame. How do you get the blueish ring that you see on some titanium mufflers? Can you do that with other metals or just titanium. I'm getting a dynomax and think that would like kinda neat.

I've seen those in my JC Whittney (sp?) magazine. I believe they are blue LEDs. I'm not for certain. I didn't spend to much time looking at it.

i think that the rest of the muffler is coated in something and the tip is not. so when it heats up for the first time it changes color, much like stainless steel headers.

I thats that the cause from it heating up and cooling over and over again. If you notice dc sports polished headers are chrome when you buy them and over time they turn into a rainbow of colors.

actually the hks carbon mufflers are like $330 and they come with the tip like that. It's not caused by the heat...
I just finished building a custom 3" Stainless exhaust for a sentra spec v and i used the hks carbon muffler. It really looked nice when it was all done. Art and Stan saw it when they were at the shop.

I like working with stainless alot more, it's just so damn expensive. I figure if your going to take the time to make it nice and weld it nice, you might as well do it with the best material. Anytime anyone is quoted a price on a custom stainless piece, just remember how much more the material is before you freak out about the price. It really adds up when you're doing a whole exhaust system!
