Default Titanium

Hi,

You know the bluey burnt tinge on titanium mufflers? Is it possible to make any other metals this colour or similar or does it have to be REAL titanium?

Cheers

For iron, but the temperatures are similar for steel and Ti.

Yeah, just use some WD-40 and then come heat, that combo should do it.

you can definately get that color from stainless with a torch. best to use a small butane torch like the ones used for brazing from home depot.

So what... spray WD40 on it and just torch it up with a small butane torch? Im assuming you can do this to 304 and 306 stainless steel?

Just another question, will the colour eventually come off or like change to a crap colour? Then would I just repeat the process again?

a couple years ago i had an X-Tec stainless muffler on my hatch.i used a torch to turn the whole can a goldish color, with a blued tip.pretty easy;i was using a full-blown cutting torch, just have to be careful with how much heat you apply.

So here is a question:

How do you attach a full Ti muffler to stainless tubing? T-Bolt clamp?

all the systems i've seen with some kind of steel midpipe and ti muffler have the muffler slip fit on the midpipe with a clamp securing it.

Do you "slit" the slip fit? or just clamp it down tight as a virgin in a traffic jam?

all i've seen have slits on the slip-fit section.
