sequential shifter
They do make sequential gearboxes for Hondas I had this on a car a couple years back and it cost me 5K used and they go for 10K new. I sold the car and the current owner beats on it occasionally and says it's still in one piece

I saw an install feature in Option2 way back in 97 on something that I think mimics the up/down movement of a sequential shifter. Its a metal frame with springs that bolts on top of the stock shifter and guides the shifter itself as you push it through the gears. All you have to do is push or pull the lever and you should go thru the gears more smoothly. It ain't a sequential, but it will help eliminate missed shifts...i'll scan some pics and post them.

No it's 10K not 15-20K
It's worth it when buidling any car that allows it. You get a lifetime warranty on many parts and it's really no more expensive than a couple seasons transmission builds.

Ok, well since there are now a few answers to the shifting part, what about clutch engagement. What is used in a F1 application. How could the clutch be disengaged (if there is a clutch) while selecting a gear. This **** should be thought of it would be badass, even if it is not economical. I would do it in a heartbeat.
Ive seen a yellow Honda CRX driven my Ricky dela Cruz in the import drag racing series that has a pretty trick shifter. Hes still running the factory honda tranny and it is still shifted in the H pattern. The shifter is like a slapper style used on sequential trannies but was customized to work with the honda trans. You still must engage the clutch with your foot but the problem of missed shifts are gone. No more 2-3 missed shifts, just an up and down shift. I liked the idea and may use that design on my own race car. The best thing about it, probably cost no more than a few hunderd bucks.
i was planning on still using foot engagement for the clutch, the sequental shifter from ikeya is exactly what you are talking about, but they want around 1500 for it, which is why i'm trying to make one

Dog engagement. You don't use the clutch to shift, just to pull away and stop.

That is hot ****. I am an H-series owner, and I know many people that would kill for something like this. I would love to see something like this made.
Bump for a cool *** project.

So your moving and want to upshift, you just tape down on shifter without using clutch and it goes into gear okay? And vise versa on the downshft, with rev matching of course.

yes. you have a switch on the gearlever that cuts ignition/fuel when you shift. Have you ever ridden on a bike? exact same thing ... you don't need to use the clutch to shift.

So what if you want to do this to a honda and you have the sequential tranny. You would just have to come up with some type of fuel/ignition cut devive and you would have clutchless shifting?
The reason I am so interested is I will shortly have an S2000 and it would be much easier to mate a tranny to a FR car than a FF, and I would love to have this in my car.
