Well,I don't know exactly what you have planned for the 700+WHP goal but I know that a 3100lb AWD 1G will go 10.0's with 700 at the wheels on a Dynojet dyno.I'm sure your way lighter than that.I've seen 550whp CRX's go mid 9's at over 145mph.There are ofcoarse drivetrain issues that must be adressed but if you can safely put 700hp down to the ground you'll definately be looking at some 9 sec timeslips.
500-650whp range = 10s.
And I'm talking with out massive weight reduction because we do have a couple 14bs running 10s as well with lots of reduction.

"Its not a matter of there being more of them or the long blocks being cheaper. I can pick up motors for my Honda for less BUT there are more Honda people out there than DSMers so there isn't as much demand thus it appears there are more of them around.
In general stock for stock the 4g63 will out power every motor Honda has apart from the newer V6s.
But when you take in consideration the motors that are within the power range of a 4g63 are up there in price, and then are expensive to mod (K series.. F series) then the 4G63 becomes a clear winner. It's an iron block built for boost... unless you wanna stay N/A there is no reason not to go 4G63 if you have the means to do so. "
i dont know who said the above but it doesnt look like this guy thought while he was typing. this is easily the dumbest thing i have ever seen and this thread is full of people that know nothing. a GSRvs4G63 is my main argumentm, dont make me bust out h22 numbers. honda built the car that you own, honda builds a motor that makes 100hp per liter n/a and mitsubitchy makes a heavier turbo motor that makes less power, i dont see the point. you can say it was cheap all you want but it probably took you a year and it probably was not as cheap as you are telling everyone. the axles suck and will not hold power, the motor is way to heavy and the gains are non existent, lb. for lb. my stock stroke stock bore gsr will eat your power numbers alive. im at elevation, all i know is we have had tons of 4gs at our shop and none of them compare to any of our hondas. example steve oaks prelude makes around 900hp and scott seevers dsm makes about 800hp, these guys are both friends of mine and steves numbers dog scotts, and scott uses a direct port kit on top of 40lbs. steves car makes all his power on boost and the pressure he is running isnt near scotts. any way you cut it honda made a better motor, if you are a cheap *** maybe the 4g is the way to go but you need to know that it will never be like a honda with a honda motor. lets not get into my k series rant because a 4g cant even hold a candle to an all motor k even at elevation. (known fact)
p.s. take your pics to the dsm forum they might think your a dumb *** too.
and your motor is not straight

That is garbage. Just because one of your buddies makes more HP than the other is no reason to talk **** on the entire camp.
A GSR does make 100hp per liter. Honda makes quality motors. Everyone already knows that. Awesome. Have a cookie.
A DSM 4g63 makes 100hp per liter also (Evo's make more btw) and it has been proven to make twice that amount before you even need to upgrade the internals.
Which is enough for most people anyway.
H22, B16, F20, K20/24........... yap, yap yap, yap, yap.
There are 2.0L, 2.1L, 2.3L, and 2.4L 4g63/4's out there on the streets dominating.
Or are there not?
Keep loving your Honda motors, theres nothing wrong with that.
But the 4G63 is nothing to be rolling your eyes at, my friends.

Thanks man, I think my next project if I sell the civic and get the $$$ I want for it I will pick up a 01 yellow ITR and swap an Evo 9 engine, harness, aem etc into it but with Evo 8 trans and rear end. Maybe an 8.8:1 2.3l stroker with billet FP-Red turbo tuned on 93 octane with ethonol injection. This time I will keep pwr steering and ac as it will be a true daily and no where near the level of the civic!

Do you still have you h2b swap around...I just read a article in I believe import tuning mag showing the complete install of a f22 block h22a head, and b16 trans stroked to a 2.3 ltr. All was put in a crx and it ran low 12's on street tires....Whole build was a little over 6000 dollars. How did you like your swap or did you never complete it?

The only issue is the mods to the DSM put it in basically the highest classes at any track event I went to. The CRX would give me a chance to play with the small frys and get a chance to learn more. But I still don't plan on finishing it till my RX8 and my new DSM are done. I'm thinking some time in 2010 if I don't sell it next year.

I stated that a 3100lb (W/driver) 1G AWD is capable of 10.0's/10 flat.Keep in mind that this is a generalization. Not every 3100lb. AWD 1G will go 10 flat. There are still several variables. However my 3,100lb 1G AWD goes 10.0 with 700whp and I've seen a few other 1G's with similar setups at the same wt. run very close to one another.

Homie. Thats because we dont race like little sissy girls.
We dont worry about racing high schoolers in their Toyota Paseos.
We worry about juiced up domestics and big turbo imports.
Hell, alot of the time we arent worried at all.
4G63 fo' life, y0
Anyway, enough poppin off at the lip
Back on topic.
Sick CRX build. With some decent boost, that thing will be chaotic.

Let me break down numbers...
Mind you ALL labor and tuning done by myself.
Car: $3000
3582r S housing setup with Tial WG and O2 housing: $1500
Magnus manifold: $325
SAFC I: $110
Chip: $70
TRE Stage 3 RACE tranny: $2100
1100cc injectors: $220
Ran 10s on pump.. and street tires.
If you wanna add in my suspension setup add in about $1K
my helmet add $100..
Car came with Comp 101200 cams, 720 injectors To4B V trim, 3" Buschur exhaust etc etc.. I sold most of that (minus the exhaust) and paid off a fat chunk of all the other money.
It literally cost around $5K out of my pocket from start to finish to run consistent 10s...
The problem is most of you don't know what the fk you are doing and buy a bunch of BS parts because you rather bench race than do the essentials.

both companies have their pros and cons, but dollar for dollar, 4g63t>b or h series. now that k20 is a bad *** motor, the older 4g(6 bolts) can't compete with it. the newer 4g's and 411b are known for making crazy power on stock blocks

89-99 4G63 > Any B series,and H series but not the K's
Although
03-08 4g63 > any K series or F series.....
and last but not least
4B11 > anything Honda is thinking about coming out with
The K series engines are awesome, but Mitsu has them covered. I know the K makes all this power when boosted on the stock block with upgraded enternals then again so does the Evo engine. The difference is when you want more safely you have to sleeve it, we just turn up the boost
All motor, Honda > Mitsu but boosted is the other way around
Honda jet ski > Civic and other models

The 411B is an open deck aluminum motor. They are not as strong as the cast iron 4G63 blocks in stock form. There have been guys that have made over 1,000whp with 4G63's without filling the block.

I wish I could afford to get my hands on that engine, but the Evo 9 engine will be about my budget limit.

Props to the original poster who did the swap. It reminds of the "top secret" swaps with them putting supra engines in rx7's back in the day.
but I ain't scurred of no dodge motor. and you guys say 9's for 1500 bucks....lol. none the less assuming everyone is running an all wheel drive setup as well

The actual big deal is the RX7 built by MAP perf that is running single digits with a 4g63 in it. The car is sick. There's a 4g63 AE86 too.
