Need help.. Problem with block.. welding needed
There is this k24a longblock I am looking at and it has 2 cracks...
I cannot buy the lower part separettelly so I have to weld it...
Do you think that is a good idea? Stresses near the crank?
What do you think? Should be it repaired? Left alone? etc..
This is a CRV block by the way, the lower part is at the pic

thanks,
nikos

It can be done, but you will be taking a small chance of it messing with the crank bearing seats. I really would have to bet that it wouldn't hurt it. However, if it was mine, I think I'd want to just get a replacement block and not take that chance, or the chance of it cracking again after I have it all together and in the car.
Yeah he's right. don't take the chance with it. Just because you weld the crack does not mean that you have stopped it. Learned that one the hard way!
