well, i am attending Tulsa welding school here in jacksonville, fl.. and i started going here so i can get into the fabrication and auto industry! I have always had my eye on designing, and fabricating turbo manifolds.. as well as installing/fabricating roll cages..
the only problem is, i dont know where/how to "get my foot in the door..."
so, i guess the purpose of this thread is to get myself out there, so the industries know i have the skill to make what they need made... and if any of you guys out there that read this, wanna take a young guy like me under his wing so i can get my foot in the door, that would be a dream come true for me!
this is something i have always wanted, and finally am pursuing!

They are supposed to help you find a job once you graduate. Dunno if they have connections in the automotive industry, although. I live in Jacksonville as well and thought about going to the school for personal enrichment but when I saw the tuition costs I quickly threw that idea out the window. However, let me know how you like it.

i know they are supposed to help me find a job, and they do have automotive hook ups.. but i want to do something a lil more into what i am interested in doing.. something i love to do!
and about the school, i love it! tuition is a lil high.. but with the grants that you end up qualifying for, it is dropped to about half! its a great school! these guys know what they are doing for sure! awesome skill level in all of the welders! all but one have at least 15 years of welding under their belt!

i graduated from Tulsa welding in JAcksonville also..I am welding on submarines for the navy..The best advice that i have for you..Is to either work for yourself,or get a welding job and get some experience..Most auto shops wont even consider you unless you have a few years experience..I ahve been welding for quite sometime, and have done, and learned alot..Tulsa can get your foot in the door..But, you'll learn more on the job..Than at that school..Good luck, and keep up the good work..Im sure it will all work out for you..Justin..

Apparently they don't teach you how to use exclamation points at this school.

nope. what are you going to do for us? Typically no one will stick their neck out for anyone else unless they're getting something in return...since we dont know you from a hole in the wall.
Your a dick head for making a comment like that this kid is trying to do what he loves and all you can do is put him down. Look back when you started out and were begging for someone to help you out *******.

thanks for stickin up for me.. but i know where he is coming from.. i actually have a friend here locally who is attending the same school as me.. and he is working on the side with a sponsored builder who is pretty big over here.. they both are moving back to cali, and i keep trying to hook up with these guys, cause it is probably the best thing goin for me right now in order for me to acheive my goal..
but it just hasnt happened yet.. as soon as i finish my rebuild and get back on the road with my own vehicle, i am gonna try to get with these guys then.. until then, meeting the right people is all i am worried about!
