Help w/ Door Lock Cylinder for 03 Civic Cpe Lx
Very first post! Yay!
K, this is my issue... I think someone tried to key my car and broke the key cylinder on the driver side. I bought a new set of key cylinder however, I'm stuck trying to get the old cylinder off the door panel. I've taken pics of my mess
Took two bolts off and I still cannot release that latch, seems like the cylinder is holding on to the latch.
So my question is, how the heck do I get that cylinder out!
Pls help?

There's a retainer clip (looks like a bent piece of coat hanger) tucked behind the bracket that the cylinder mounts to. Have you removed it? You can access it just beneath the cylinder. Pull it down to remove it.
Then just pull the handle up, and out. (like you're opening the door)

What sux is that I got the wrong key cylinder! lol
I have a sidewinder key so I have to get the same key cylinder and re-tumble it. Now I have two keys but it will do for now...
Thanks again bro!
***PROBLEM SOLVED***
PS: I actually found a pdf online outlining on how to remove it and how to re-tumble it, if you come across that pdf, please let me know as I can't find it.

Follow up for the above issue -
Like I stated above I was able to remove the cylinder with some dificulty but none the less I was able. I also stated that I had bought the wrong replacement key cylinder which now needs to be "re-tumbled". Please, save yourself 50-100 bucks from the dealership and do it yourself.
Thanks honda.lioness, here is a link to download a PDF that will guide you step by step on how to remove and re-tumble the key cylinder.

PS: next one that tries to key my car will be met with a bat to their skull

Re: Help w/ Door Lock Cylinder for 03 Civic Cpe Lx
Hey guys, first post here.
So I have 03 Civic and can't get my key in the driver's side lock. This guide looks great but I am having trouble obtaining the parts. I called my local honda dealership and they said that the service has to be done by them because the parts are all scattered and not in a single kit. They'll charge 55 for parts and 150 for labor.
So... where do you get the cylinder kit? I've looked online (ie. here) but I'm not sure what the hell I need. Surely, not the $237 kit.
Can anyone lend a hand? Thanks.

My driver's side door lock also won't accept the key. I have a remote, though.
I fixed it once but it did not last. I am unimpressed by the new design of tumblers on the 2001-2005 Civics. I think a re-build by the dealer or yourself will only last so long.
I have thought of checking to see whether the 1991-1999 Civic's door lock could be fit into the 01-05 Civics. But then the ignition key will not match the door key. And so on. At present I am resigned to living with a non-functioning driver's side door lock.
