Insulation question
Basically I'm looking for something about the size 6x6 , I was gonna just use metal but I think foam will be a better insulator plus if I can get the right kind that will shape easily it should be a pretty good seal. Anyone have any recommendations. Am going to Home depot but not sure if there gonna have a big enough piece.

Just a hole in the firewall where the a/c use to be. Air is rushing in and since its -10 below over here, that hole is not doing any good.
The hole is pretty big, actually I probably could fit my hand in there, well close to it. And I have 2 pretty big wires going threw so its time to customize a little.
I also need to cover up the hole where the auto shifter use to be, since I converted it. A lot of people just use metal but I feel like either metal gets to cold at winter or it gets to hot in the summer so its not gonna be good to keep the heat in or out depending on what season it is.
But I found this, anyone want to tell me how true it is

See I would think the metal would conduct heat, and heat up and stay hotter longer then a foam would.
On another note, GM uses some good sound deadening insulation
I'll post some pics tomorrow. Just in case anyone wants to see.

Anyone want to confirm if that statment is true ? The one hole is by the exhaust so I would think the metal would heat up and store heat. Same with the metal in the cold, it would get cold and store the cold. I think I will still just use this foam I have.

That is almost how big the one hole is. Well you can't see the hole cause its covered up.
So I want to know, what would be better. Just foam or a piece of metal then foam. I am leaning towards the foam.
Also does anyone know how hot it will get there, to hot for a foam material ?

I'll look into it but I made something for about 79 cents which should work. Plus there is another spot on my firewall, once you get rid of the a/c.

Either Honda does not make a piece for the crx or that don't have it listed. I think if I remember correctly they just use a metal piece and the carpet goes over it.
Also the other piece I needed Honda does make but, its rubber and has no holes so I would have to cut holes plus I would have to cut the piece at the bottom and go up about 3 inches so I can slide the wires in like that. Because there is no way I am rerouting all the wires that go threw it. Plus after its all said and done, I would be paying about 15 bucks for a rubber piece I am gonna cut up. Also its a 50/50 shot that they will send me the one with holes already in it, and it will be way to big and still let air in.
I would go to the junkyard, but I would have to find a car with out A/C so the lines would not be in the way, plus its -10 degrees out over here so I don't think I feel like walking around or working in a junkyard.
