You need a torch. Torch the upper part so it expands and then use force of some sort to shove it back into place. Thats the only way i would think it could be done.

Id also shoot some liquid wrench in there and let it soak just for added assistance.

lay the female collector end on a hot plate and walk away, let it bake for 10mins or so, come back and shove the male part in and let it cool.

haha or do both..... put the male end in a deep freezer for a day or so then heat up the female end....... that combo should get it back together pretty easily

place a ratchet strap around the whole assembly.. spray lube the joint.. bernzomatic torch on female and cold wet rag on male.. keep cranking ratchet strap while whacking with plastic mallet.

thats a really good design by the way. hytech copy.

You could also spray CO2 from a paintball tank or even spray some nitrous on the male end to cool it. Theres a picture in a recent issue of Hot Rod with some guys using nitrous to cool a part for a similar situation.

By the way, is that a Hytech manifold?

if your having a difficult time getting all the tubes lined up the easiest way is to cut about 1/4 off of one tube and 3/8 off of another. This will allow you to get 2 tubes started then the third and finally the fourth instead of trying to fight with all of them at once. It will not affect the tuned length and will make it easy to assemble. Use some wd-40 or some crc lubricant and things should go together easily. if you need to tap the collector on then use a block of wood or a dead blow hammer.
I stagger the header tubes on all the headers I build and it makes things much more friendly.

good luck

thanks for hte help guys. i have like a million lb. bottle of nitrous that i NEVER use....maybe ill freeze a bunch of stuff and throw it int he parking lot and watch it explode! and a torch. seems like with all the options you have listed i should be able to figure out something.

its not a hytech manifold, its one we made very similiar...just a one-off....for a customer/frineds car. i didnt do any of the welding on this one. car made 450whp on 93 octane about 3 years ago...when that was unbeleivable
